Found the part # for the seal on messicks after a long search its actually under engine: crankshaft etc in the IPL'S here's to hoping my local dealer has one in stock. Otherwise it's a order and wait for one from messicks

It will probably be cheaper to get it from your local dealer and have it delivered in their normal weekly delivery schedule so it is free shipping.

I assume you already have the pilot bushing but if not then you should replace it also.

There may be some seals on the throw out bearing carrier also? Again I assume you are already replacing the throw out bearing. The grease zerk you mentioned before does not lubricate the bearing but lubricates the shaft and carrier interface.

Gotcha and yes throwout bearing pressure plate clutch and pilot bushing where all part of the kit. The seal for the pilot bearing was not included. The other seals appeared to be in "good enough" condition for putting humpty dumpy back together but I will inspect further

You could call your local auto parts store and see if they rent a pilot bearing puller or just buy one. As my Snap-On one was only like 40 dollars(about 25 years ago), so the price might have gone up.

Yes, it does work, but if it doesn't you get a face full of grease. I only did that once, and after that, I invested in a pilot bushing puller. That was about 65 years ago, and I have only used it a couple of times, but I am still glad that I have it.

excellent information I wish I had it yesterday but better late then never, my local Autozone which is only 2 miles away does have the pullers as part of their loaner tool program. I will probably go that route as I wil hopefully only need this tool 1x in my life and if I need it again I'll go ahead and buy one. I had no idea they made such a thing but if it works it will, in theory take a lot of the headache out if getting the old bushing out wothout damaging other components.

Thanks for the heads up about the pilot bushing puller. I'm gonna try and "rent" one from autozone as I shouldn't need it kicking around long term, if I need it again I will order one to keep in my arsenal. I already bought a 25$ 26 mm wrench yesterday for the banjo bolts on the hydraulic pump and that still hurts a little bit lol. Call me cheap but the idea of doing the clutch myself was to keep as much of the $ I dont have in my pocket. I sincerely do appreciate the information about the tool though

Looks like Humpty Dumpty will have to wait till next weekend for reassembly. My local dealer did not have the seal for the pilot bushing o
In stock and it's a 190 mile 3.5 hour (each way) drive to messicks who does have it so that option is out. Hopefully I will have the seal by the weekend
So lesson learned. and this info is for anyone doing the clutch on a b7100 or similar. The clutch kits do not come with the pilot bushing seal, and it should be ordered ahead of time unless you know your kit comes with. You don't wamt to end up like me waiting on a less then 10$ seal to put the two halves of the tractor back together

In other news I took advantage of the down time to replace the two radiator hoses Ive had on the shelf for 6 months and it will get new coolant and I willalso have a chance to remove the hydraulic screen from the pipe in the rear and give it a good cleaning

Well... I should have just ordered the seal from Messicks. Yes I would have had to pay shipping but since I had to order a worn out clutch return spring anyway from them, beciase my local dealer did not/ could not get it, it would have probably been worth it and not much extra $ in shipping as I have the spring I ordered Monday from PA in hand. And the seal from the local dealers other location is not. Messicks for the win again going forward so long as parts aren't particularly heavy or big, the few larts i may need, I will be ordering from them, they just have been an all around pleasure to deal with and they are fast .

If you do end up doing this job, and have any questions feel free to ask. It's been a learning experience for me and there are a few things that I wish I had known going in. Most of which I have detailed in previous posts

Just got off the phone with my local dealer and with any luck they will have the pesky pilot bushing seal for me tomorrow. The one they had at their other location was "damaged beyond being able to sell to a customer" so they put one on the weekly truck. I wish I had known this Monday but oh well.
In the meantime I pulled the hydraulic filter/screen out this evening after work and it was spotless, no crud no junk nothing. Rinsed it out with a little brake cleaner and put it back. So at least that is done.

Thank you, noted. My clutch seems to hold fine, but seems to exhibit similar symptoms to what you described.
Did you price out all of the parts through Kubota? If so, what was the difference between the dealer and the kit you purchased?

I did not price out any of the clutch parts from kubota, but in looking at the IPL'S from messicks the clutch components would have been significantly more through kubota. The only two things I've ordered from kubota are the pilot bushing seal and a clutch pedal return spring. The clutch kit including the clutch disk, throwout bearing, pilot bushing and pressure kit all.came from a ebay seller north Idaho Wolfman reccomended. I should hope fully have results good or bad from the job by late this weekend or early next week.

None of the newer models after the B7100's used the seal for the pilot bushing.
And you could have omitted it without any issues.

Here is a tip on Messick's.
1st of all, they are THE BEST!
2nd, If you don't need parts in a hurry, ask them to ship via USPS.
Sometimes, shipping via USPS from Messick's is half the UPS price.
