I have searched and have not found out if Kubota tractors have a diagnostic scanner port.
That is an excellent question! However, I have NOT heard of such, but then again, does not mean they do not exist. On the larger machines there might be, I do not think the BX and B series has such. On you L there might be - someone here that owns L series will pipe in and know for sure.

Do you have the Kubota digimaster program? A WSM is necessary to know the proper procedures to clear the ECU among the many other diagnostic procedures.

I'm not familiar with the digimaster program. I would like to know more about Kubota ECM error codes if the codes are readable with a device.

Your codes will show on the dash. With out the program you will not clear it from the ECU. You can manually clear it from flashing on the IP. You need to call your selling dealers service to get the information to find out if it's a critical error or just anomaly.

Does the procedure in the WSM not clear the codes? Or does this just clear them from the display?

Yes, all of the common rail electronically fuel injected Kubota's will have a diagnostic port. They call it a diagnostic connector. A traditional scan tool doesn't fit it, however. The ONLY tool that works for Kubota diagnostic is Diagmaster, which is PC or laptop software, and IIRC, you need a dealer license to acquire it. I have used it-and it's pretty limited as to what can be done with it, but it is nonetheless a useful tool for a dealer.

The diag codes are all OBD II codes, BUT, the nomenclature is different with Kubota than it is with other manufacturers-and this throws a curve for those familiar with automotive OBD II terms. Because of the difference in the Kubota specific nomenclature, you should not-and cannot-use OBD knowledge.

Most of the L01 series will show a code in the panel where the digital hourmeter usually resides, but only if there is a code. If there isn't a "hard" code, it shows hours. Codes can be cleared from the panel but it doesn't clear it from the ECU without diagmaster, so if you figure out how to clear it from the panel, but can't remove them from the ECU, it doesn't do any good, IMO.

For some reason, Kubota doesn't give their trouble codes in the WSM. They're all in the training manual of diagmaster. I hated the way they did it, but I'm pretty sure they had a good reason to do it the way they did.

Thanks Pat and Lugbolt! Thats all good information. I don't have any problems. I just like understanding all about the machines I own. I sure get more from this forum than from my dealer.

I also forgot to mention that the port for the diagmaster connection is a royal pain in the butt to get to on the L3301 and L3901. Most of the rest of them are easy, but for whatever reason, they wanted to bury them on the 3301/3901. It's behind the key switch, wound up in the rest of the harness, nothing marked, take your pick type deal.

Makes me wonder sometimes if the Japanese are still mad at us for 1945, with the thought running through their head "stupid roundeye!"

Just to note.
This is just a generic photo.... however other models may be located in different areas.
also Note this is is not your standard OBD 1(I) or OBD 2 (II) port type connector found on most all modern passenger vehicles.

Fallow others advice (aka Lugbolt), Don't just mess around with the ecu if you dont know what you are doing just to save a grand or two. You just might end up doubling that figure!

Interesting that Github now has a diagmaster bundle for download.

With all respects. it may be older but better late than never.
But thank you... no... I didn't look at the date.

Bringings up one point to note though. I reviewed it in 2023 and found in rather insightful. Perhaps someone else willy review it in 2029 and likewise find it even more insightful.

Thanks for the github insight Mr. T...."TheOldHokie".
