BX23 hydro oil change interval

I bought this BX23 with 1800 hours on the clock, and at that time, changed all the fluids, with the hydrostatic getting the SUDT, more commonly known in Canada as UDT premium. Eight years later, the tractor now reads around 2300 hours. What would the recommendation be, new oil, new filter, one or both? The oil still looks like new but looks can be deceiving.

My opinion will most likely be contrary to most others, but Kubota Super UDT isn't like motor oil, and I don't believe that it wears out. A friend that is a Bobcat tech says that they don't recommend changing the hydrostatic oil unless there is a sign of contamination from condensate water, otherwise, it is thousands of hours. I know that replacing a hydrostat is expensive, but apparently, yours has served you well for many 100s of hours. I don't know if you can have an oil test on hydraulic fluids like engine oils, but if that is possible, that might be a good start. On the other hand, the cost of the oil and filter isn't going to put you in the poor house, so if you will sleep better at night, then do the full service.

For teh BX23, the service intervals are:
trans filter every 200hrs
trans fluid every 400hrs

Like others have said - at the cost of the fluid and the filter - change 'em both. Yeah I know it will cost $100 plus. But it is worth it. IF something were to happen oil/filter wise - would you be pissed you didn't change it?

Good time to look at the strainer again too - just in case.

Dont forget to clean the suction screen! While your at it change the UDT in the front axle and 2 fuel filters. BTW new coolant every two years! Regular green! Oh and get a manual!

I got all the manuals. The front axle has high viscosity gear oil in it, don't want to run UDT as its viscosity is pretty high, more liable to get seal leaks. It is time to change to coolant. I have a primary fuel filter that is visible for crud build up, and if it is clean (which it is) it is very unlikely that the secondary fuel filter needs to be changed. Also, the fuel filler neck has a screen to keep junk out of the tank.
