I have two comments
1) is there a bolt missing from #10 through the transmission shaft? I can’t see any evidence that #20,30 and 40 (from above illustration) are installed

2). Hydrostatic fan seems to be missing some of the blades. Since you have gotten this far into the tractor I would suggest you replace the fan with a new one (assuming it is fairly easily replaced now).

OK I’m getting ready to upload a video now where the bolt is installed

also, I tried to get a close-up of the gear selector since people are thinking maybe that is not putting it in gear

I think we're all hoping it's the linkage or the range selector. Because otherwise it's about to get expensive....

how can I check if the range selector is faulty?

when you say expensive, do you mean that I might need a new HST?

OK, seems to be connected..so
my dumb question...
Does it have the proper and full amount of HST oil in it ??
There ain't too many straws left in my haystack to pull from !!!

yes, fluid full

I am gravitating towards the problem, where I have to jump it to tricky to make a think to go, I think maybe there is another safety feature that will not let the wheel spin…

Is there any other electrical way that could be stopping it from operating part of a safety feature?

Parking brake engaged?
(p.s.-you don't need to offer money to get people to help you.)

Well darn…I thought if that bolt was missing that would be the magic to make it work. I was hoping to be the hero but now I’m just a zero!

I have no other ideas unless there is some sort of a way to disconnect the HST from drive. On my Cub Cadet (big box MTD version) there is a lever that pulls out and gets put into a slot so it can be pulled or pushed easily. I have often sat on the tractor wondering why it doesn’t move and then realized that I had pulled that out to move it and then forgot to put it back into the operation position.

I don’t recall that your model tractor has a disconnect but that is all I have to offer now.

I’m pretty sure that all the electrical stuff is to shut down the engine or not let the engine start. I don’t think the tractor would be “safe” with the engine running and have not read any posts about that “problem” on this site.

I'm not entirely familiar with it. If you can see the parts moving it's probably working. Perhaps you can hear it engaging.

Expensive means split the tractor, dismantle the HST, then do remediation on something that's broken inside it. That's more expensive parts and more fiddly work than fixing linkages to selectors. Plenty of people have done it though, and if you're not paying for labour it may not be crazy expensive.

Ultimately I think we're in @North Idaho Wolfman territory here, he knows these inside out. But his time is also scarce, so the trick is probably to get him all the info we can, then wait to see what he says.

Some background that might help: I did just put in a used HST, maybe there is that feature where it disconnects from the drives but still runs the rear pto

I'm not hearing any "engagement"

The HST I just installed it, it was used from ebay

I have another HST (orginal broken one) that i took apart and am familiar

It's broke....I win....

With the opposite wheel spinning in the opposite direction that proves the differential is working and intact. I would wait for NIW to share his expertise but I think it time to pull HST. Is the filter new(if it has one)? Any history of issue? Have you taken the old filter apart and looked for expensive metals?

Your theory: HST that I just installed is also broken

Filter: yes, brand new filter, and new fluid

History: I got the tractor with broken HST, got another HST and installed it

Taken old filter to look for metal: When I originally flushed the transmission fluid, i dont recall broken metal, but it would have been from the broken original HST

No I just was wondering the history you must of posted while I was typing. Was the e-bay unit the same as what you removed? any splined coupling left out or on old unit? Any plugs(salvage yard type) left in place(check oil filter nipple(have seen one shoved way up in their).

Ebay unit: same exact unit, matching numbers, no splined coupling left out

Plugs left in place: I am not sure

You're guessing that a pathway for the hydraulic fluid is blocked, because I am able to run the rear pto, and lift the 3 point up and down?

One worry I had while installing HST: If I put too much gasket maker, it might block the holes, messing with the route of where the HST sends fluids...

Does your unit have 2 hydraulic filters? One for the HST and one for the hydraulic(loader/3 point). Can you post pictures of the old unit? and pictures of newer unit? I can't get YouTube to give a good picture.

I am seeing one hydraulic filter, close to HST but connected to main transmission area

Here are the pictures of the unit installed

Pictures of old unit: the bottom two pictures
