All three Kabota tractors, I have call for 10W-40 diesel oil. Can’t find that in a synthetic diesel. Choices are 5W 40 or 15 W 40. I’m thinking of going with the 5W 40 I am in the Northeast. Any comments? Thanks.
Synthetics will be lower first number like that. I use 0W40 and 5W40 synthetic in all my tractors and diesel trucks big and small.
Only thing you need to make certain of when you buy is that it is NOT an FA classification. That is for the newest on road emissions engines.
Look for these C classifications:
API CK-4 oils exceed the performance criteria of API CJ-4, CI-4 with CI-4 PLUS, CI-4, and CH-4 and can effectively lubricate engines calling for those API Service Categories.
They are backwards compatible from the newest CK.
Don't worry about what Kubota manuals say. They are incorrect. Even when you buy Kubota branded oil, it is a class the manuals say not to use, LOL
