Ground finally dry enough for some firewood gathering and stump pulling. Plus it has hit the 60's here in mid-MO. Heck, bald head is sun burnt already! (-; View attachment 97079 View attachment 97080 View attachment 97081 View attachment 97082 View attachment 97083 View attachment 97084
I'm still waiting for some dry weather. Can't get back in the woods till it does. Even then, I'll have to fill in the ruts where I got stuck and get it compacted before I do. There is probably 5 tons of dead wood I chopped up back there that needs to go.
It's a double edged sword though. I've got to seed a 1/4 acre that's just dirt now. So do I really want it dry?

I am about to order a root ripper.
Hoping to avoid some open pit mining like that.
I bought one expecting great things. Don't have a quick attach on the BH, so it took a bit to switch out the bucket for the root ripper.

I've pulled a lot of stumps. Have only used the root ripper once... Can think of better things to do with 300 bucks.

I'll sell ya mine if ya want. (-: root ripper.jpg

I do have the Kubota BH quick attach feature.

"I'll sell ya mine if ya want"
I would be fearful that my 48 HP Kubota would twist that little Bxpanded root ripper to a pretzel, in just one bite.

"Can think of better things to do with 300 bucks".
I wish!
Ripper cost for my TLB is $1200-$1400 bucks.

I have been looking for months for a reasonably priced used plow or snow pusher. The one i showed in other post, was for my ATV and i sold it with the ATV. so its just been the blower and loader this year. Amazon sells Warn plow blades with shipping and tax; was $412cdn for a 60" blade. Ordered one, the plan is to build sides and a top drag for it and turn it into a snow pusher. it will also need an SSQA bracket welded to it. sure its almost the end of winter but at least i will be ready for next winter.

Got as much as I could down before the rain. I'll have to move the house on wheels to spread the rest.

I'm not happy with you!
I'm starting to feel the same way. I'm itching to start a number of projects but this winter weather is sticking around. The wind has been creating snow drifts for the past two days now. I was out on the MX this morning trying to use the wind to my advantage and blow 18" deep drifts where I needed them to go. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

I just spent 4 hours clearing the drive and the yard.
6 to 8 foot piles of white stuff everywhere!
They are calling for more snow tonight and tomorrow.

I was watching the news this morning and saw the snow up at Donner Pass and in San Bernadino County. It's crazy! Houses are buried! I've never seen anything like it!

66°F here today. Mowed the lawn this morning then did a little welding on one spot on my FEL bucket.

Cat watching me the entire time.

I was watching the news about that. Pretty normal around here but most of the residents there must be loing their minds with all of that white crap.

Cat's cool! As mine just walked all over the key board, then shut the monitor off!
Dang mowing grass, that cuts deep!:mad:
Now go walk yourself off a short dock into a deep lake to atone for your actions!😝

When we have a mild winter (which is most) I have to mow until about the 1st or 2nd week of December, then start again late February, no later than March 1st. So roughly a 3 month reprieve...then back to mowing.

In the peak growing season I will need to mow every 5 days. Grass will literally grow an inch a day.

Lawn is not that bad since front and back yard is around 4 acres and I can knock that out with the Zero Turn.

But pastures take days to mow with my tractor and it needs to be done at least every 10 days with a 15' bat-wing mower.

We basically have 4 hot months here (June-Sept) then the rest of the year is very nice.

I'll have this kind of grass growing (already cut once) by early March each year.

But I feel for you guys that live in the Snow Belt. I lived in Kansas for about 6 yrs and I know what snow and cold is. Also the mess it makes when it starts to melt. All that nasty slush, ground won't dry out for months.
