Front axle/differential leak

Ok, my back is allowing me to get out there, so cleaned up the mess on the floor and got the tractor up on jack stands. Even tho it appears a lot of fluid had leaked out, now there are still drips running out of this crack....so I assume there is a seal higher up that might be bad. I'm having a hard time reading the schematics to determine what I might need. Barring broken/damaged hard parts, I'd like to have the seals, shims and o rings in hand when I tear it down the rest of the way.

Nope, one seal.... part# 37650-43470 . You have one of the most common leaks know to Kubotas. Dirt and grim get in between the case and cover and help wear it down.

Ok, started on this job. Already ran into a question. I am assuming I begin by taking the bottom square cap with 4 bolts, off? If so its not wanting to drop off, or even pop off. I got the bolts loosened up, and the cover moved just enough to remove the 2 shims. I stopped there not wanting to break anything. It almost feels like this isn't where I need to begin.

you really,really NEED the diagrams of how it's put together.
assuming you have the wheel/tire off...
there's probably a big snapring that has to come off,then the vertical shaft and gears will drop down, allowing the 'bevel gear case' (the chunk that turns the wheel...)to come off . it's dang heavy so be careful.
While the design is 'common' to most 4WD tractors, you really need the correct diagram.....
hopefully someone an post it ,or a link for you.

Yeh, I picked up a workshop manual for it, but it doesn't show much regarding taking apart and reassembling.......

I'm thinking.... remove the front hub/gear stuff...160-180 ,then shaft 060 and gears falls out the bottom ?

I'm attaching the page from my B7200 WSM. It should be very similar to yours. Pop the steering knuckle off, tap bearing out, remove circlips...etc. If I recall, I had to separate the assembly from the front axle before that seal could be replaced. I know before I replaced one on my L2900, I watched a few youtube tutorial videos. They are always helpful....

You have to remove the whole gear case off of the axle to get it apart.

I'm not seeing how to get the hub 180 out to be able to remove the cover between 210 and 200.
You have to remove the whole gear case off of the axle to get it apart.
I appreciate the guidance. I sure was hoping to avoid taking that baby apart....lol. I better clear off my messy workbench and rip into it. Any other things I should watch out for, please let me know.

The hub and bearing come WITH the cover !
170,200, 210,180 as a 'unit'. 170 is the snap ring that keeps it all together.
the 'bull gear' isn't 'attached', it just slides into the splines, may or may not come with the 'unit'.
just be careful, take pictures, lots of light......

Been there done this... You can get a decent multi set of snap ring pliers at Harbor Freight on the cheap. Saved me a ton of bush fix'n and subsequent cuss'n.

Ok, got the steering disconnected and removed the bolts holding the bevel unit to the diff tube. According to the pics I have seen, shouldn't the bevel unit simply slide away from the diff tube? Trying not to break anything....

Yes should pull off.

Update. Still fighting getting the bevel gear case separated from the front axle case. I am using a slide hammer and have really slammed it hard and the two pieces are grudgingly starting to move. I've gone back to the diagrams and it sure does look like it should separate, but I'm really concerned that if it comes apart with this much difficulty, how is it going to go back together without it being pressed back on. Not knowing more I'd swear there is a snap ring or clip somewhere within preventing the 2 cases from splitting apart. But the diagrams seem to agree with what I've been told here.

Well still sitting with a broken tractor. Tried doing this with online help but the lines of communication broke down. I finally broke down and called a service repair to come over to finish taking it apart and then reassemble it all. By waiting the guy now is tied up servicing farmers trying to get their fields ready, so my little job, as he put it, will have to wait til he has time. Thought I could do this, found out different.

As the Big Bad Wolf already posted…the gearcase must come off. Then there’s a C-circlip inside that must be removed. Then it will simply drop down. No need to disassemble gears or bearings. Leave them intact.

He and had extensive texts concerning this up until Easter, I did everything I was told to do. Nothing worked. I learned a lot, now it will get done.
