Tom - last year we ended up with our son back at home. Decided Medical School was not where he wanted to go.

He landed a good job at a local large manufacturer in Environmental Health and Safety.

We cook a lot anyway; but having a 6’5” boy around creates demands we haven’t had in a while….😳
Grandson is 16yo and 6'4" tall. I know exactly what you are referring too. The term "Bottomless pit" comes to mind 🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅

What do folks put on pancakes in Arkansas?
Of course. I import 😎😎😎😎 Even my grandkids won't settle for the fake stuff 😁😁😁😁😁

Most restaurants use maple flavored around here. I couldn't tell you what the average arkansan uses.

Got beef working couple ways.

Beef pot roast for supper and the Mrs. working on Italian meatballs for the freezer.

Got beef working couple ways.

Beef pot roast for supper and the Mrs. working on Italian meatballs for the freezer.

That bottom picture is what we are having tomorrow night for dinner. Gonna prep the crock pot tonight so I can drop the pot into the base in the morning and set the timer before I leave for work 😎😎😎😎😎

I did cheat today because I was busy out in the yard 😬 they were Bush’s…I did drain as much of the liquid out as I could, threw in bbq sauce, garlic, soy, whatyacallit, and jalapeños.

I usually do my own though and throw them on the pit with the meat. Dry beans in the instant pot to start cooking them, then make sauce with bbq and ketchup, soy, whatyacallit, garlic, jalapeños, onion, bacon, sausage, chorizo, and some meat cut off of whatever I’m cooking 😁

Vacuum sealed a 40# case of chicken breasts. This is half.

Breasts are large and very good. Case fit in 16 bags at one breast per bag

While at it, found a bag of breaded shrimp in the freezer where the seal was compromised. Fixed that too.

The Mrs.found these chicken wings in the store.

She asked that I escort her from the store, and make sure I had my .45 on me….😉

Truthfully, prices have come down a lot. I'll cut into pieces, deep fry and toss with my homemade wing sauce.

Great Super Bowl fodder.....

I haven’t bought a bird that’s been missing it’s wings yet 🤣🤣🤣

I always buy whole chickens and section them up myself, then vacuum seal them. Will be doing that tomorrow, they had them for .99 a pound this week 😂. Then make up chicken broth for the freezer.

That's similar to how I do my baked beans. I throw a couple cans of bush's baked beans in strainer and let them drip most of the juice off and then doctor them with maple syrup and brown sugar.

Grandma used to make homemade baked beans. Recipe was a maple and brown sugar blend, with other seasonings. Her recipe was a close kept secret and unfortunately the recipe was never passed on.

She would soak the beans during the day. Mix them up in crocks. Then bake overnight. After smelling those beans cooking all night, everyone in the house would be up early and ready for breakfast absolutely starving.

Gramps would make homemade buttermilk pancakes (I do have that recipe), sausage or bacon, occasionally scrapple, and then the baked beans 😁😁😁😁

True.

Boneless skinless breasts were $1.60…wings were $2.49.

Used to cook about 10 80# cases per week. Boiled the wings for stock and threw them out.

Had no use for them 40+ years ago.

Then the buffalo wing craze hit. Being in central NY, came to our area pretty quick. People from far away were confused by spicy hot fried chicken wings….😳😳

I used to work with a couple of imported Pennsylvanians. One of them brought some scrapple down one time to introduce us southerners to yankee cuisine. I took one look and offered to introduce them to chitterlings (I've never tried either one).

Ever since then, I've never taken any crap about southern cooking. (The bagels they brought were good).

Have not had scrapple in a long long time. Butcher a hog and anything in the floor trough is picked up and then called scrapple, sort of.
In the day scrapple, egg, and cheese on a roll with a tall boy was the breakfast of choice when starting a ride ! I never really expected to live this long.
