Cold and nasty out from an ice storm. Wanted some good comfort food. So I prepped a pot of chili last night and threw it in the crock pot this morning. Just pulled a pan of corn bread out of the oven.

Oh wow, I have been thinking chili for the past few days. Yup, I'll gather the ingredients tomorrow.

I mentioned the chili in the crock pot to a couple of coworkers earlier today. They were both grumbling saying they wished they had thought of that

Yup, it appears that Chili might have been our "missing ingredient" during this foul weather.

Mine is not gonna have as many "groceries" as Daren Todd's above because he sorta put da pressure on me to git-r-cookin'., but it will be Chili. I may not win but I ain't in last place.

Magic - - Looks great to me!

I do a little variation of chili without beans we call Texas Hot sauce. I think it's a northeast thing on hot dogs, often with onions and mustard (I pass).

I was short order cook in a diner as a kid in heat of summer. Kitchen as brutally hot and super busy.

Along with a ton of Orders, made myself a foot long Texas Hot and grabbed a can of beer.

When opportunity arose, bailed off the line and slammed the hot dog and beer.

Came back on the line after my "meal break". Hot Dog and beer were gone.....

Co-worker (the owner), said you ate that in 63 seconds.......

I got da wrong kind of beans. I got pinto and I should have gotten kidney. Pintos are OK but softer kinda like what's in pork and beans. Anyway da cornbread is ready and it's like what the monkey said when he chopped his tail off. It won't be very long now.

Smell-a-vision going on here. Beef and veggie soup has been in the slow cooker for 5 hours. The entire house smells great.

You guys motivated me to cook up a pot of ancho chili. A couple hours after getting it all together

it was ready to eat.

Not only can we cook, we figured out how to watch the Syracuse game, being streamed on ESPN, without having to ask for tech support!

Tom - last year we ended up with our son back at home. Decided Medical School was not where he wanted to go.

He landed a good job at a local large manufacturer in Environmental Health and Safety.

We cook a lot anyway; but having a 6’5” boy around creates demands we haven’t had in a while….

Kids school had a Taste of Louisiana lunch/fundraiser today, ate way too much . Been very busy around here and haven’t been cooking much lately.
