We have an older G1900-S that was just serviced by the dealer 18 months ago. It came back in great shape, started right up, ran nicely. It's since been in storage, out of service. We've decided to sell it but after charging the battery it is completely dead. No dash lights, nothing. Battery is topped off. We know the starting sequence and I also printed the steps to follow to be sure.

I checked the 3 fuses under the dash. They were good but badly corroded so I replaced them with new ones. Now I'm looking for the fusible link I keep reading about but cannot find. I checked everywhere near the starter (but not inside the dash) and can't find it. I am pretty sure I would recognize it. Suggestions on where to find it?

Also, I noticed that the parking brake lever is very stiff. It works but I have to use both hands to lock/unlock the brake. How do I gain access to that mechanism for inspection and lubrication?

Thanks guys

Do you know what a fusible link looks like?
Find where the main positive batter cable connects to the starter.
The fusible link will have a connection to the same location.
here is a picture of a fusible link.

I did not check the rating of your fusible link so the wire loop may be a different color than green.

A battery may "seem" perfectly fine - but not be. Battery provides two things - Volts and amps - you can have 12+ volts down a tiny thin wire ......... but if the wire is heavy and corroded it will not allow the amps to flow.

Since you have fuses that are " badly corroded " I would check all electrical connections too.

As Dave said - the fusible link could very well be the problem. I would have the battery tested to determine IF that is the problem or not.

Sounds like a safety switch issue. Pto or park brake lever... Should be a grease fitting on the pto lever. Might be behind the screen. That model has the metal bearing safety switches, you can spray wd40 or contact cleaner in them to get them moving again. If you have the mower in a safe position, where it wont run over you, and pto off you can jump the starter to see if the starter is fine.
