I'm getting up in age, had 80th in April. The old Frontier RC2048 was bought about 8 to 9 years ago when I bought the lemony JD 1025R. Had it on the 2025R for 6 years and now on B2601.
The bolts for the blades have raised elongated nipples that are supposed to fit into slots on the bush hog thing they attach to but have both gotten to where they slip over a bit and require tightening of the nut through its entire range and then nuts loosening and pounding on the bolt with nut on it to get the bolts out.
The rear lip is bent from being backed into things. The case has numerous dents.
No seal leakage on the gearbox. Replaced the oil once.
Thinking about getting another Frontier or Landpride. JD dealer is actually closer. May go with another Frontier. Like it. MUCH better than the JD LX4 I had with the 1st tractor. The stump jumper stays in place with blade removal. The gearbox oil does not heat up like it did on the LX4.
What to do with the old Frontier? Trade in with new one? Take to metal recycle after removing gearbox oil?
Any other recommendations? Think I'm looking at $2,000.
