Fuel prices

Anyone can bring up fuel prices anywhere by going to GasBuddy.com, it isn't necessary to post prices unless there is something sudden and abnormal happening.

No difference from all of the posts stating that what their local prices are today.

Not trying to ruffle feathers, but there gets to be a lot of posts stating prices without the exact location, if one would check around their area on a website they could find the lowest price available to them.

I skimmed through the last few pages.

I invest in big OiL U.S. companies via stocks, not sure I saw anything mentioned about the billions of infrastructure, supply and investments that was lost when these companies stopped thier own operations/businesses in USSR.

No one works for free, profits are good.

I heard on the news that the POTUS is going to be giving out free fuel to people that can't afford heating oil. Probably just another way of buying votes from our most venerable citizens of the US. We are turning this country into a socialist economy. This is fine until you run out of other people's money.

It is going down a lot in my area. Seems to be huge regional differences. Over $1 drop in the past few weeks in my area.

Interesting how there are such regional differences. They have been dropping here for the past month. Yesterday I gassed the wife’s vehicle at Costco for $3.11. Today I filled my Jeep at the same place for $3.08. Not a big change, but that has been the trend since early October. I think part of the reason is our local refineries are near the oil fields so short pipelines, not a lot of transportation and they are not close to export terminals so most sales are domestic.

$5.35 today. I use the same station as a measure. There are cheaper. $4.99 being the lowest.

Location is a big part of it. Port Arthur is a massive refinery and sends fuels to you and me both. I'm twice as far away though. The next closest to you, Carson, is the 3rd largest refinery. So add the transportation cost to the cost of doing business as a retailer and there ya go. I don't know if gas stations lease their lot or own. I looked into a business opportunity a bit ago and 1/2 acre of dirt in the metro area was $500k-$700k. Plus they want any new business to pay for "improvements" like street drainage, new traffic signals (replacing existing ones that work fine), improvements to a nearby park.... yeah, I understand why things are expensive here.

If you drive across Wyoming on Interstate 80, at about mile marker 221 you'll see a huge refinery about a half mile off the freeway. The name of the exit is "Sinclair". That's a Sinclair refinery. At the exit itself is a Sinclair service station, selling gas and diesel. Some of the highest prices in Wyoming, right there beside the refinery.

Here in Nevada all our gas and diesel comes over the Sierra Nevada mountains in pipelines from California so we pay for the privilege. Here's a photo I took when I drove to my polling place on Tuesday:

Ouch, and by the way, that Sinclair refinery in Cheyenne has had financial difficulties for at least 10 years. IDN the back story but it was publicly discussing conversion to bio fuels a few years ago.
