add on fuse box

I am thinking of adding a 30 amp fuse box mounted under my seat of my B2650 ROPS machine. I want to add LED lights mounted to the ROPS and maybe some additional electrical items in the future so I think the add on fuse box may the easiest solution. I will also be adding a Orangeaftermarket cab for winter use only. My question is, where would be the best location to tie in the fuse box- directly to the battery or some other location?

You can run it to the battery or run it to the battery cable lug on the starter (this is assuming it’s easily accessible like on my L).

I added on a fuse box using a main lug from the battery, but I put a relay in between so the fuse box shuts off with the key. I believe I used a 30 amp rated relay with 10 gauge wire. Another important thing, a large 30 amp inline fuse off the battery protects the relay and the fuse box down the line.

thats what I did too. Main power to the box goes through a relay, the relay is trigger by the factory work light circuit under the fender.

A fuse box is certainly a “professional” way to do it…but if you have the correct wire gauge and fuse it properly…you won’t be changing the fuse very often, if ever….. and an inline fuse holder near where you connect it to power is a simple solution.

Main lug boxes are the best IMHO. That way you don't have to run more expensive 10 or 8 gauge cable from the battery to under the seat. Granted, you have to run a bunch of wires from there to where you want to go. Have yet to do it in the 'Bota but in the truck I just ran a wire for every circuit all the way to the back bumper and left them. I only wanted to fish wires once. Lol. When I added rear lights the wire was there. When I put in the air compressor the wire was there (and I removed the extra.

I didn’t read all the way thru that link…but I didn’t see any mention of using power-relays to switch high-current items. They are simple, inexpensive, and add lots of safety to the process.

Every circuit is fuse, switch, load. Safety = heavier wire, 20-30A switch for loads under 10A. Simple = no relays to trouble shoot.
Master disconnect is the 50A 12V connector. Unplug it to connect 12v fuel pump, winch or jumper cable to tractor battery.

40a toggle switches will probably suffice in place of a relay. The only relay I would use is KOEO for the fuse box.
