We have now touched on politics and religion. What is next??????? Sex???????????
Well.....we skipped right over 'racism', but I guess its a stretch to connect that to fuel supplies. But I have faith some of the talented minds here can find a way. Hope not.

Funny how some threads go off on wild tangents. I'm guilty at times of participating in that, so I plea Mea Culpa.

"Sex??????????"
YES !!!!!!!!
within 20 post it would morph to transsexuals, politics, parents rights, and name calling,
As a group we seem to be consistent in wavering off topic !

Like a coffee conversation at the local fuel/dinner stop

We must be down to around 15 days or less before the diesel is gone!

I've got my propane tank full, plenty on contract, but have to pray the supplier doesn't run out!!

Oh, got my 20KW backup testing itself on Monday mornings also. Ready for an ice storm.

Just saw that there was another warning from the saudi's suggesting the joe better re-think his decision on tapping the SPR at this time...

Some on this site seem to think that a 25 day diesel supply 😢buffer is all that could ever be needed!

Just wanted to say hello to everyone before the thread is locked.

I ran out of steam reading around page 5...LOL

Interesting how we can justify our conclusions on logic based on whatever we feel at a particular time. Naturally we all feel we must be correct.

Myself, I am in good shape until the spring for diesel as I just filled four five gallon containers (Ouch) and don't use my tractors much over the winter...life is good here...more or less...

I know this goes without saying but, someone needs to fix this problem quick. Ive been thinking of selling my Ecodiesel, this may be the end of the road for it. Probably can't get much for it with the prices now.

"I am in good shape".
Really ????
How do the groceries you buy get to your supermarket?

"before the thread is "locked"....... for differing opinions on diesel availability?
"Cancel culture" .....at it's finest!

Wait!

You mean groceries are not delivered to the supermarkets by transporter like I see in the Star Trek movies?

But still, hello to everyone before the thread is locked, unless it changes course...

By the way, the number of days fuel is available likely changes day to day...might be less, might be more as time passes...day by day...

As someone noted, we have 25 days of diesel. We also had 25 days a while back. I think that means we always have 25 days of diesel due to the refinery having problems keeping up with usage.

They are well seasoned vehicles if they are running a 5.9 Cummins. My 2007 truck with 5.9 was the last year they made those. The motor change happened mid 2007.
they were made a lot longer than that for different applications also the way the law was (is?) written, its illegal to repower a vehicle with a lower tier engine than it came with, however it is legal to repower an older vehicle with a higher tier engine. So if the truck is a 2006, they can put a 2007 engine in it no problem. It's not uncommon to work around that in itself. Trucking companies do it all the time.

my brother works on big trucks and school buses. He's been tasked to bring some of the older buses back online because the new stuff is so much more expensive to maintain/fix in comparison--even after paying him to refurbish the old DT466E's and such. Yes there are newer year model buses with ISB's in them although the majority of them in "his" fleet (114) are International's. Today he put injector o-rings in a DT466E, driver said it was running weird Monday, they checked the oil and it was out. 28 quarts to refill it. Drove it tuesday no problem. This morning it was out of oil again. Took fuel cap off and the 'diesel' is black and running out of the filler neck. Still cheaper (and easier) than replacing a DEF tank assembly.

DT466's have HUEI injectors similar to the old 7.3's. They still have a few 7.3's running too. I need to see if he's got a spare engine for my old truck.....

The 5.9 Cummins was replaced by the 6.7 for light trucks in 2007. Are you saying that the 5.9 was still manufactured for other applications?

in different forms, yes

the light truck market is only one of many that use that engine
