Given modern oil technology what advantage is there to a 15W40 engine oil?My preference is 15-40 as well and I see very cold temps. If you have a block heater and use it, way below zero is no issue.
Supporting Dan's thought. Spec is for a 15w-40 or 10w-30.Given modern oil technology what advantage is there to a 15W40 engine oil?

The dealer where I live in NC wont even talk to me because I bought the tractor and implements for $5,500 less from another dealer - they had an "availability surcharge". I am pretty fired up about it.Unless you don't like your dealer, I would get the filters and oil from them.
Yea, I would not give him any other business, either. I would plan vacation or business trips to places that you might pass another Kubota dealership. Buy multiple units of the filters from another dealer, fuel, air and oil, but I would get oil from any of the regular auto parts stores. Engine oil I use Shell Rotella® T6 But for hydraulic, SUTD2 from the dealer....."availability surcharge". I am pretty fired up about it.
As a matter of fact, my son was looking for a BX - Kubota of Franklin NC (I hate to name them) but they are horrible to get a response or deal with. I am glad I found James Stewart of Alto GA - they are the great.Yea, I would not give him any other business, either. The one dealership in Raleigh is where I buy my supplies - I didn't buy from them but did get a price quote from them.
When I was leaving that dealership, they said if I got a better price to come back and see if they can match it or beat it. Hindsight, I should have gave them a chance but I was really happy with the dealer I bought from, they got me the silky smooth 3 point hitch valve (back when they were super jerky).
Unfortunately, my dealer that I bought from did end up going out of business. Not that big of a problem since they were another hour past our 2nd home.
