sore subject with me. And every trucking company in existence.

87 gas is $3.01 a couple towns over, $3.22 here. Diesel is $5.05 a couple towns over, $5.01 here.

Sore subject? Yes. In my case I sold my old car in March, couldn't NOT sell it. Other car sold in Feb. In late March/Early april I ordered a new Mustang, which STILL hasn't shown to be built yet. Build date was supposed to be the week of 8/15, with a blend date of 8/18. Nope. Anyway, injectors are getting bad in the truck, cups are leaking, fills the radiator with coolant. It's all I have to drive, and I ain't got any vacation time to fix it with. So in addition to buying expensive diesel, I'm also having to flush the coolant about once every couple weeks; as the "coolant" is diesel. Overhead console says 18 mpg, in reality it's more like 11-it ain't burning all of it, a lot of it goes into the radiator. I gotta get this fixed asap because spending $1300/mo on fuel/coolant is getting ridiculous. And that's JUST going back & forth to work as I rarely go anywhere else. Had a 2 day weekend this time and never left the house other than to get groceries which I rode the scooter to get. But I can't ride the scooter to work, too dangerous no faster than it goes and it's invisible to almost all drivers of cars.

The window sticker of the "new" car (the one that I can't seem to get!) says annual fuel cost of about $1400. LOL! I'm spending close to that every MONTH on diesel. I can't imagine driving for a living. And people wonder why things cost so much....when everything you buy is hauled by some sort of diesel powered vehicle. UPS trucks were going back to gas, but now they're back to diesels again....but for how long. Sooner or later they'll all be electric and have a range of 10 miles and half the cargo capacity.

Are Ya ready?

Buy an old Toyota and drive the wheels off of it. If you are spending $1300 a month on your truck waiting for a Mustang, you would be much better off buying a Kia or similar car new until the Mustang shows up. That car would cost you maybe $100 a month to drive, and you would have $1200 a month to make the car payment. Once the Mustang shows up, sell the Kia and get some of your money back. It is obvious that you don't need a truck since you are replacing it with a Mustang.

re: the mach e... battery !!!

BTW there's a 'computer' in the battery recording every charge, amount, time, etc. that Ford uses to calculate what's left on the '8 year' warranty

LB you must have made a killing on selling the 2nd car to be driving the problem pickup ??

Prices are going back up. Last week, $4.34, yesterday, $4.46. Today $4.69. This is WITH my discount card!

I may wait until after the holiday weekend before filling my Transfer tank, but will probably need to put some in my F-450 to get to work on Thursday.

Just read in the (bad) news today that US diesel and heating oil stockpiles are at a historic low. Yay, just in time for the winter.

I read today that 40% of the American people believe a civil war will happen within the next 10 years. I believe this will cure a lot of the problems. We are oil rich. Gas prices shouldn't ever be over $2.00.

Gas in Saudi today....$2.34

Just filled my truck in Elko, Nevada...$4.95 a gallon for 87 octane.

The drop in fuel prices I keep hearing about haven't happened around here.

No I will not buy a japanese car. Period. Or Korean.

Everything is GROSSLY overpriced, used especially. Looked at a 93 Ranger last night. XL, 4 cyl, 5 speed, stripped down version. Didn't even have A/C. Wasn't very nice either, wasn't taken care of obviously. $3400 was the asking price. Guy had messages coming as I was looking at it. This morning, it's sold. And people buy this crap??? That was a $1200-$1500 (TOPS!) pickup.

I'll walk before I buy a japanese car.

I once thought the same way, but after the union pension bailout, while destroying a piece of my retirement savings, I don't give a rat's petoot about the UAW.

re: I'll walk before I buy a japanese car.

but you BOUGHT a Japanese tractor ???;)

It doesn't matter make or model, EVERYTHING on wheels is priced higher than it should be BUT,hay, thank the Chinese for that ! Can't get parts to make vehicles(or anything else) so the used market is very 'strong'. Add to that 1,000s more new drivers (aka 'immigrants' ) and the # of used vehicles dwindles even faster,so 'supply and demand' factors in, as in "I got the supply so I demand my price', take it or walk.....

BTW $3400 would give you 9+MONTHS of 'free' driving based on what you're spending now.....

yes it's a crazy ,screwed up World.....

I have a 2014 Mercedes E-350, a nice car, RWD, that eats tires like lunch, burns premium, has two batteries, is ridiculously technical, and is a mega $$$ maintenance hog (72K miles).

I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla (77K miles) , that burns regular gas, gets 35 mpg, and 50K on a set of tires, plus still has original battery (12 years).
I really cannot AFFORD to own anything BUT a Japanese car!

Lugbolt: Your B2601-1 was not made in Japan?

I would rather buy a Japanese car than a Mercedes because you don't want to own a Mercedes when it is out of warranty. I know because I used to own Mercedes cars until the maintenance got way too expensive and the service at the dealership became a joke. Pay to have the cabin filter replaced, and when you checked it wasn't done. Now I own 2 Fords, and with the extended warranty, they are good for 8 years or 100,000 miles.
