Manufacturers do the best they can to make these things Monkey Proof, but then society just keeps making better Monkeys.People treat these safety switches as an annoyance but many times those "nannies" have saved people from their own carelessness and stupidity. Bypassing them to test is reasonable, permanently bypassing instead of making a proper repair isn't.

I look at it a bit different then others. He had health problems. He was 79. He probably removed the wire from the operator presence switch because he had trouble getting it started. So how much longer would his life have lasted? May have very well ended in a hospital attached to every devise available waiting for someone to say, "Ok enough".
