Shotgun shells (or maybe nothing) as a missile warhead?

Just wondering...you guys are smarter than me big time, maybe you know.

What kind of Hellfire missile explosive device would take out a guy on a deck balcony, without damaging the house much, and not harming the other inhabitants?

Sounds like that is what happened in Kabul Afghanistan today...

Maybe there wasn't any explosive device at all. Two missiles hitting a small balcony? Maybe just the kinetic energy of the impact was enough to do it?

I believe it was a drone, not a bloody hellfire which would not have been so surgically effective. A small drone with HE can do a lot of damage and be very effective in removing a target with out causing undue damage .. Just MHO

It's kind of a high tech Ginsu knife, rotating blades destroy everything in its path. Without an explosion.
Very neat stuff.

So for the hellfire. They can use a “blast frag” charge on it. Basically think of it as an anti-personnel blast. The concrete construction of the houses there tend to be pretty resilient to the hellfire unless they used a “shape charge”warhead or the “anti-tank” warhead. They are extremely versatile and only Weigh about 100lbs.

A Hellfire missile can carry a variety of weapons, the guess is that they used one of these slice and dice things.

R9X is extremely accurate. Enough so to put one through the roof and another through the windshield of a small vehicle.

With proper intelligence and guidance input....said to be capable of killing only the passenger of a vehicle and not the driver (by striking off center).

^^^my thoughts exactly. Not the first time we've been lied to about our activities in other countries.
So true, or first reports at least.....incredibly wrong.

A good (just one) example:

I remember well the 'prez' and military officials boasting about this one....until the facts came out, then crickets.

My brother was active in Iraq, and Afghanistan, for a long time, doing different things. Home now, disabled, but home.

There are things that are used that are not talked about. Might be weapons, might be transportation, but there are tools used that are kinda hush-hush.

So who knows.

Glad your Brother was able to make it home. Please thank him for his service. (y)
