So I noticed what appears to be an air chuck on my air filter housing. It doesn't fit a standard tire chuck though. It opens to the inside of the filter and I have to assume sending air through there blows out the filter element so debris can escape through the funny looking rubber "lips"? What type of air chuck fits on it?

Interesting thought for a quick cleaning when you know it’s only chaff from brush hogging with the bigger machines. 💡 Definitely send a pic.

hmm.. wonder if it's the thing at 6 o'clock,on the housing, near clamp #160 ??
pumping CLEAN compressed air in there, would blow backwards through the airfilter AND put air into the cylinders ?
or
could it be some kind of 'drain' ?
or
should some 'sensor' go there ?

Curious, now I NEED to know what it's for !

More than likely you are referencing the fitting that the air filter restriction switch would screw onto. It would be a 1/8NPT stem near the outlet of the filter.

I think so, but what is an air filter restricting switch? Prevent runaway?
My L35 has a light on the dash, no. 4. It comes on when starting, like the oil pressure light. Now I'll have to go find what the switch looks like

would just light an indicator on the dash for operator. Others like what d2 posted would give you a visual when you do your checks.

It's a nipple for a vacuum hose. It should go to a gauge like D2Cat posted, or maybe to a switch. My switch screws directly into a bung, but yours is different. Does your Op Manual mention the air cleaner light?

Regardless, cap it off at least. It's open to the engine intake and will let dust in otherwise.

No mention of a light. I did notice it's capped off.

Might just be a really nifty place for a shop technician to connect a vacuum gage to check filter restriction and adjust idle mixture based on vacuum, or an easy/quick way to hit the engine with starter fluid without removing the filter. Not much compensation from mechanical injectors, and very little real engine/emissions management going on with the ECU. That's mostly display stuff. But I do like the idea of a gage to tell me when the filter actually needs changing, though. Coming up on my 200H service soon, and only because warranty says so, I'll be changing the air filter then. Still looks nearly brand new, but most of my run time is either sitting still with the chipper going, or on damp/low dust soil under tree canopy. I wouldn't be surprised if humidity had its own effect on the filters, and if there's one thing we have plenty of in Central Alabama, it's humidity. I can see where a venturi effect of humid air going through the filter would cause moisture to condense in it.

That's where you can attach a restriction gauge to show when the air filter gets plugged.
I used that same filter housing on my Yanmar genset and attached a restriction indicator there.

I'm gonna have to look into that. I bought new air filter(s) (I keep a spare) for it from the dealer. But the elements are gray. So even new they look dirty LOL. So other than obvious debris it's hard to tell if it's dirty
