Hey guys has anyone ran a bush hog 406 cutter behind a mx 5100 kubota tractor. I think it is a bit heavy but was wondering if it would be fine on a 4wd tractor with loader? Or is the 1500 pound beast so heavy I would be endanger of tearing up the lift mechanism on 3 pt? Has anyone here tried a bush hog 406 on a kubota mx tractor and how did it do?
I use a Woods BB720X cutter with my L6060.
With rear chains the cutter weight about 1,100 Lbs., 100 Lbs. above the Kubota recommended weight limitation for a rotary cutter.
So far, I've replaced the structure that attaches the sway bars to the lift arms three times, left twice, right once. I now keep this part (same for L and R) on hand.
I've also broken the bolt that attaches the sway bars to the tractor at the front twice, L & R. I keep a new one in the tool box.
The 720X was purchased for a different MF tractor before buying the 6060 and once had front chains as well. I replaced the front chains with belting to lower the cutter weight and also to keep debris from the rear of the tractor.
I believe in the Kubota weight limitations printed in the Operator's Manuals.
I never mow with FELs attached for multiple reasons and need front weights in order to steer and for safety on hills.
