You folks helped me last month with my over heating BX 2200. I got a new thermostat. Now a new issue arose. The engine just quit. But! It cranks and restarts and runs for a second or two. What should I look for? Thanks

Fuel cutoff solenoid I would bet.

I had the exact same issue with my BX2200 a couple years ago. Bought an aftermarket solenoid for around $25 off Amazon or eBay (forget which) which was 25% of Kubota price and that included delivery.

Symptom was engine would start but immediately quit when the key was released back to the run position.

Thank you for your help. Does this symptom sound familiar? If I keep the starter engaged, the engine will continue running. When I release the key the engine quits.

Check fuses. Carefully!!!!
As Henro would tell you, the solenoid has two internal coils (that is why there are 3 terminals in connector in picture he posted) fed by two different circuits.
One circuit starts the engine and the second circuit keeps the engine running.
The test procedure I have posted, the part with the red box around it, tests the run portion of the solenoid.

Thank You! Can you give me an idea where it is located on the BX 2200. I found it on e-bay.
First as Dave mentioned check the fuses.

If you don't have power to the hold coil the symptom will be the same as if the hold coil were bad.

You know the start coil is good because the engine starts and runs until you release the key.

The solenoid coil is on the side of the injector pump. The injector pump is on the side of the engine. I forget which side but it should be easily found if you look. The solenoid is held in place by two screws. Easy to change it.

My issue was EXACTLY the same as what you are experiencing. If I remember right when my solenoid failed it blew a fuse. Point is if you would not check your fuses, and just change the solenoid, a blown fuse would keep the issue the same until you changed the fuse. (I am not sure if I had a blown fuse or not actually, but you might).

The saga continues... As Dave and Shelko suggested I checked the fuses. Sure enough the top most 20 amp had a broken terminal! I replaced it and the machine fired right up! Then the new fuse melted. Tried another and back to square one. I removed the cowling and located the solenoid. Looks easy to swap out. I ordered a new one from e-bay. I'll keep you posted. For today, I'll get out the push mower. Thanks for all the help!!! --- Alan

In the meantime, you could disconnect the solenoid, since it is a plug connection, and see if the fuse in question does not blow. This would eliminate the possibility that the issue is in the wiring rather than the solenoid.

At this point you don't know. With an ohmmeter you might come to a conclusion. BUT with the solenoid disconnected, and if the fuse does not blow, you can likely reach the same conclusion...

You folks were spot on! The solenoid came in the mail today and I put it right on. BX2200 fired right up and KEPT RUNNING! I purchased from ARKOTRACTORPARTS on e-bay. (fast service) I can put the push mower away! Since I have the cowling off I would like to change the fuel filters. One is visible, one is not. Must I remove the deck to get at the lower filter? Thanks
