I remember in grade school we did this every MWF. We used to have to sing the song as we did the exercises. WOW! What memories.
I was out of high school, and don't remember this at all. A younger friend told me about it today, so I decided to post it.

I started 1st grade in 1959 in Wisconsin. The cafeteria served as our gym in the morning.

It’s funny I was born less than a month before you started 1st grade. I started Kindergarten in 1964 and I don’t think I’ve ever heard of this song. While sitting here typing this trying to remember it it brought back the memory of the day of JFK’s death. The impact of that day on the nation had also made an impression on this 3 year old. Not the impact of his death, but what I was observing around me. I had all ways remembered that day throughout my life, but searching the old memory banks today brought it to the forefront.
