At least the Oil Co's are doing ok. . .

LONDON (AP) — Energy giant Shell reported record first-quarter earnings after a surge in oil prices, fueling calls for the British government to impose a tax on energy companies’ windfall earnings to help consumers struggling with the soaring cost of living.

London-based Shell said adjusted earnings — which exclude one-time items and fluctuations in the value of inventories — rose to $9.1 billion from $3.2 billion in the same period last year. That beat analyst expectations of $8.2 billion.

As if taxing energy companies more will somehow not add to increases in prices. 🤯

Well, that settles it then. The Oilco's aren't taking advantage of the situation.
All those Oilco CEO's that stated they aren't going to do new drilling / open old wells because there was no reason to expend any $$$ on that when they could just let there be a shortage and get the higher prices, well they must have been kidding then.

4.20 for 87 and 5.30 for diesel here. Up from 3.60 8 days ago. We know the current administration has nothing but excuses for the escalation in prices and no interest in increasing domestic production to help out. Glad I filled up the diesel storage back at 3.25 a gal in December

It's around €1.90/litre here. Luckily, I drive a fairly economical van. I've had it for a few years now, maybe 12. I was passing the time in traffic last week when I noticed the mileage. Even I was surprised!

Not bad for a 15 year old van with over 300k km

I bought one of the filter funnels because the dealer said the local fuel was not great and recommended I have a fuel filter on the shelf . It leaves a couple of ounces of fuel in the bottom of the funnel so I think now the fuel filter will be cheaper to replace than the wasted fuel in the funnel.

I find it a LOT easier to buy diesel using 2, 10L2.5g) jugs instead of 1, 20l jug(5g). Easier to carry and a LOT easier to fuel up the BX23S. Ain't as 'agile' as I once was,so trying to work smarter, not harder now.

I made my mess using a 5 gallon sure can. I use the steering wheel to hold it. What happened was I though can was empty and pre-maturely pulled hose out fuel was still flowing.

today's post:

my local station was 4.63/gal gas. they don't sell diesel, but earlier this week I paid $6.60/gal for diesel.

my estimates/labor rates will reflect the current inflated rates as well. Need to pass that cost along as well.

$5.39 for diesel yesterday ... B2601 took $25.00 to fill up.

I wasted a bunch and made a mess on the hood :(
I too find it impossible to lift 5 gallon jugs and fill the tractor without spilling some (and straining my old bones).

This was a simple small project that cost me < $200 all in including a new 55 gal drum. Runs on 12v - I installed a 12 volt connector on fel cross arm (also serves as charging port).
