Here's a thought I had while watching this; if I drop foreign matter into the engine via a "top of the engine" filler bung, that matter will try and find its way down to the oil pan via gravity. But if it gets caught in an oil passage and clogs it up, is it possible that whatever moving part the oil passage goes to will starve for oil? I've never seen the inside of the particular engine Neal had, but perhaps that's the deal.
On the other hand, like my L35, one fills the oil just above the oil pan - so if I were careless and dropped material there, I would think that the oil pump screen would catch it. If I drop a lot of stuff, I'd think that the screen would have at least a partial blockage lessening the overall oil flow.
I thought moving parts such as cranks and rods were pressure lubricated directly from the oil pump under pressure and not gravity. However, not to make light of Neal's video - dropping foil or other foreign matter into an engine is easily prevented.
