CURRENTLY SOLD OUT. Making more is a winter project. I will remove this line when I have made more.

These are obsolete and no longer available. I have recently been contacted by a member asking if I will make him one of these after reading how I made mine. I know this comes up from time to time and would like to gauge the interest others might have -- if I`m going to set up to make a couple, I may as well make a few more.

Here are some photos of what I made in the past. I made the two shown out of steel, as that is what I had on hand, but I`m thinking aluminium would function just as well, be resistant to corrosion and cheaper to ship. I`m not sure of pricing yet -- I know metal pricing has shot up over the last year -- but would estimate it to be in the $30 to $50 range. Plus shipping.

Stock cover:

Inside of stock cover:

Inside (left) and outside (right) of diverter cover (note there is a third tapped outlet provided on the bottom face, all outlets tapped 3/ 8" NPT. Plug the unneded outlet or add a pressure gauge):

Hydraulic schematics from B7100 manual:

UPDATES:

Through the course of this thread, we found that these blocks will fit many other models, by adding a choice of ports, like so:

(The above pic shows a total of 6 ports, this was later refined to 4 ports.)

The "universal" block pictured should fit most of the older B and L series tractors:

B5100/6100/7100 (Note, the block was added to the design at some point during the production cycle. Really early models don't have this capability. Look on the right side, just rear of the engine behind the fuel filter. Does it have the block pictured in the first post of this thread? If so, then this cover will work on your machine.)

L185/235/245/275/285/295/305/345/355 (replaces 35300-36720)
L3350 (now confirmed)

(if you know of others, please let me know and I'll add them to the list).

The multitude of ports is only intended to ensure the block is compatible with a wide range of models and provide options for hose routing.

Use one port from the left side and one from the right. If you want, you could connect a pressure gauge to a third. Plug the others. It comes with plugs to block off the unneeded pair.

Warning:
These blocks intercept the flow of hydraulic oil between the pump and the 3ph. They MUST only be used in combination with an end-user supplied connection between the left and right halves, such as a properly plumbed FEL control valve, power steering control, etc. Failure to connect something between the ports will result in a rapid loss of hydraulic fluid. You can pick any two ports and plug the others but installing plugs in ALL the open ports will result in rapid and potentially catastrophic failure of the hydraulic system.

At the very minimum, you must install a hydraulic hose between any port on the left and any port on the right halves before cranking the engine.

I would think this is self-evident, but I don't know the skill level of those that are planning to get one. If you are in doubt, as for help. If you ignore the above you will have my sympathy and a broken tractor.

Pricing:

Dan "theoldhokie" is not currently making them due to health issues.

The price is currently CDN$40 or US$30, plus actual shipping. PM me with your address for an actual shipping quote, but it's usually around $20 - $25 within North America (shipping within Canada is taxable, shipping internationally is not). I will also ship overseas, that seems to run CDN$35 to $50. Customs also requires a phone number on their paperwork. I accept Interac from Canadians or Paypal from others.

NOTE: this is very much an open hardware community driven project. If you want to make your own, the measurements are posted above. If you want to make them for others, you have my blessing. I claim no patent or copyright on the design.

CURRENTLY SOLD OUT. Making more is a winter project. I will remove this line when I have made more.

Just to clarify: that is Canadian $ pricing. Probably in the $20 to $40 range for our US friends. But then, shipping across the border will cost more.

I thought it was reasonable, considering the price was around $120 to $130 US before they went extinct.
Both the Price and that fact you can make them and offer them for sale is excellent!

Do you know if this is the same part used on L185 or did Kubota charge the design for different models. I want one to be able to add a rear hydraulic top link.

I guess I can dig around on parts lists or my manuals and see if they are same if no one knows off hand

Sadly no it's not the same block, there were quite a few different block designs.

Does it look like the pictures above, or more like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/203139939584 ?

I believe it came with the B1630 loader. I suspect this means it fits models that would be listed as appropriate for the B1630 loader. Among my list of suspects would be the B6100, B7200 and B5200 -- but I can neither confirm nor deny that by personal experience.

According to KPAD the loader option was L1730 and the diverter block is a similar design to the one used on the B7100 but mounted on the lift cover. If so just need dimensions. Messicks lists it at $300 if still available.

Looking at the Kubota Canada Parts Finder website, it looks like the L185 didn't come with any sort of hydraulic block in the line -- but there is a very similar cover under the left side of the tractor seat.
The L1730 loader seems to have come with it's own hydraulic pump and reservoir, powered from the front of the crankshaft. I found an L1731 that seems to use a very similar block cover, located under the left side of the tractor seat, but I'm not sure what model tractor it fits. (see part number 3530036720 on this diagram: https://www.messicks.com/ku/85207?sectionId=218166&diagramId=349466 . With the right dimensions, I'm pretty certain one could be made for a lot less than $400!!!)

The dimensions of the blocks I made for the B7100 came direct from the FSM. Perhaps the L185 manual has a similar diagram? Otherwise, you would have to measure the cover on your tractor. Overall LxHxW and bolt centre dimensions required, similar to the extract shown above.

Edit: Oh, and the passage dimensions. They are probably kind of important too. Probably have to remove the blank cover temporarily to get those though.

I looked up that part number (35300-36720) . Looks like it fits the L185DT, L185F, L235, L245DT, L245F, L275, L285P, L295DT, L295F, L305DT, L305F, L345, L345DT, L355SS

One site lists it as still available -- for "only" $287.62!!! Ouch.

According to the docs I was reading the auxiliary pump on the L1730 was an option and it could also be used with the tractor hydraulics. Here is the tractor takeoff from KPAD. The diverter block (key number 10) replaces the top cover (35300-36720) on the pressure relief valve assembly - same arrangement used on many current models. Current part number for that block is 70050-00279 @ $310. Kinda pricey for a $10 chunk of aluminum.

The L185 workshop manual also shows another block in the pressure delivery pipe in the location I have marked in red. I can't find that in any other parts diagram.

I was wondering where you got the dimensions for the B7100 block. I have reverse engineered a number of those sorts of things and getting the dimensions right can be a bit of an exercise. If I had the top cover off the pressure relief it should not be too difficult - the dimensions can be taken right off the part using the DRO on aa mill. The bolt holes are obvious hard positions - the o-rings usually leave a stain on the plate thats good enough to locate the ports. When I was reverse engineering the remote valve adapter on my L3901 that cover was so new and fresh I had to use Prussian blue on the o-rings to get a good trace.

The block is the same for the old B series and L series. The early L series had the block in the pressure line and later it was moved to the left side under the seat .

Are you saying the B7100 block will also fit the top of the L185 pressure relief assembly?

Thanks - thats good to know.

Dan
I would confirm that with actual measurements. They have different part numbers. Doesn't mean it won't fit, of course. I note that the first diagram you posted (and the one I viewed on the Kubota Canada site) show the outlets both on the same long side. The 70060-00360 version has one outlet on each end, and the superceding part (70070-00385) has both outlets on the face of the cover. But all 3 are drawn with similar proportions. The 70070-00385 may be a touch thinner which makes sense -- the passages are straight through so it doesn`t have to accomodate the internal 90° bend.

The one shown in your second drawing, from the workshop manual, appears to have different proportions. Less rectangular than the other.

As for the loader number, I suspect that the only significant difference between the L1730 and the L1731 is the choice between independent hydraulics and tapping into the tractor hydraulics. It sounds like something Kubota might do, anyway.

Torch is correct. Over the years many versions of this block. The port's out the sides the top O ring boss threads versus pipe thread. But the bolt pattern has stayed consistent.

Thanks 007kubotaguy!
Without a L185 or any that used the 4 bolt block I really wasn't sure if the bolt pattern was the same or not.
I will note that my L3450 has another style of block in the rear, just in front of the three point cylinder and also the block on the right side in front of the clutch housing.
