Hi all,
I just picked up a BX5450 snow blower from a B2320, where it had a B2733 quick-attach and B2788 Mid-PTO kit. My goal is to put it on a BX24. I was aware that the BX24 requires the B2751 and B2753, but the price was worth the risk.
Having spent way to much time trying to figure out what work with what in the B/BX snow-blower confusion, I will try to document what is required to get this to work...and I think it looks promising, really.
I did a mockup in my driveway of the components with PTO shaft connected, and it appears that there only three little issues:
1) the overall length is about 3" too long:
2) The frame rail is too tall for the mounting C shape to be captured in the Q-A frame mount:
3) And, not surprisingly, there is no rear mounting point just hanging around, waiting:
Other than that, it fits up perfectly, except for the mower deck tabs, which would bump up, if it wasn't three inches too long:
Overall I think it will be not so bad. My plan is to put together a 3" extension on the front frame rail which will support the sub-frame. For the rear I'm not sure of the exact approach, but it will likely be a cross-bar between the frame rails, just under where the FEL bolts to the frame. Possibly using those bolts as mounting points, or the actual FEL tower supports.
Anyway, just getting going. Any suggestions welcome. I'll try to keep the saga updated, in hopes that others will benefit.
