Here's 'fun'... some of the gas rider mower seats that have internal switches have EXTRA switches( shorting bars) embedded IN the chassis side connector of the seat wiring.... THAT makes it interesting to try to bypass.... but, yes, it can be done.
Old seat swiches , you just had to unplug, next generation a 2 pole switch, 3rd gen , the embedded shorting bars. I figure 4th gen will be active RADAR to confirm person is on seat something 'they' have working in the lab for all new cars.

Ok.. if this BX2380 is the 'same' as the BX23S it could be this simple...
Open hood, goto right side of engine, find the starter, look to see if the 'control wire' is OFF.
Kinda common that the female spadelug connector on the wire vibrates off teh male tang on the starter solenoid. BTDT.. recent reply to another 'won't start', same issue.
Thank you. Will do that

Your switch is not "in" the seat and you can definitely start the tractor while standing on the ground next to it.
Either you were not clear with the service manager (or he with you) or he knows nothing. (and maybe you should seek advice elsewhere) like here and the 5 guys who've seemingly given you good , honest and free advice.

REspectfully,
The dealer only has one road crew person, who can’t come until the 16th. I am scheduled...just trying to see if there’s a simple fix. And I definitely appreciate all this advice.

Ha ha!..you’re right more complicated each new model.

In the OP's defense, some seat switches may be two pole, with a normally closed and normally open side. If so, then by passing becomes a bit more complicated for non electrical people.

Don't have a clue if the OP's seat switch is one or two pole though.

Still...if you don't know what your are doin', then it does make sense to pay someone who does to do it for you. IF you can find such a person. Dealer will obviously not modify safety devices or eliminate them.
Dealer only has one road mechanic, and first appointment available (which I took) is the 16th. Just hoping to figure it out before then. Thanks everyone for suggestions and advice!

My old BX22 had virtually no safety switches on it, except for the PTO, and I honestly don't even remember exactly how it worked, or even if it worked. I had that tractor for about 18 years, and never had any problems with the tractor or any functions that I needed to do a particular task. In many ways, I liked that tractor better than my BX23S, because I could idle it down below 1500 RPM, and it seemed to have more power to drive down the road at a faster speed. I regretted not buying a hard cab for the old tractor and cheaper out and got the soft cab. The new tractor does have the Kubota cab installed, and that is the one thing that I do like better.

My BX2380 won’t start. I had started it once 10 days ago by jumping on seat. So I think it is safety switch. After several discussions with parts person at dealership and with service manage, I’v determined switch is in the seat. But I don’t see. a way to access it. Anybody know how?

Thank you!
Since you would like to solve the issue before paying the dealer guy for a visit, here are a couple other thoughts.

First, might it be possible that "jumping on the seat" might have moved the tractor enough so that a different safety interlock switch might have been moved/vibrated enough to close? So are you SURE without question that your problem is the seat switch?

Second, something you might do, is exercise each function that might have an interlock switch associated with it, while holding the key in the start position. Directional pedal, PTO lever, Range selector lever...whatever else might be there. Doing this could tell you if a switch other than the seat switch is the culprit, as the tractor might start when you move a lever that is connected to a switch that is not making when it should.

The tractor would not have to start to give you a pointer. All you would need to hear is a momentary movement of the starter when a control lever is moved. This would indicate the switch associated with that function is the issue.

A third thing you could do is, and this is a bit dangerous perhaps, is use a jumper at the starter, to apply 12 volts directly to the starter solenoid terminal, eliminating the safety circuit, thereby verifying that the starter/battery circuit is in normal working order.

Just a couple thoughts. Something I would probably do myself...

Penny your welcome for the advice, BUT did you try any of those simple only takes a few minutes suggestions? If we were right you could have been tractoring by now instead of waiting on a tech.

Your question is kind of vague, does the engine turn over but not start, or does it not turn over?
If the engine will not turn over, it is not the seat switch as it is not in the cranking circuit.
The seat switch is only to let the engine run or not.
The seat switch on a BX80 series is in the seat cushion and can be easily removed from the underside of the cushion. It is a simple two-terminal, normally open switch that closes with pressure from setting in the seat.

So here is your answer, if you want to eliminate the switch. Just cut the wires and connect the two ends together. Eliminate the switch and join the world I live in, where neither of my tractors have seat switches.

If doing this concerns you, then look again and follow whitetiger's advice as far as getting access to the switch.

Myself, I never felt the need for a seat switch in twenty years of operating my tractors. But do what you are comfortable with...

BUT it gets back to "did you isolate the real problem or just make an assumption?"

As Henro pointed out you may have just jarred something when jumping on the seat. Others have mentioned that 80 series start without sitting which is true. My 2680 starts with me standing beside it.. just make sure you're on the right side! Lol
Apply parking brake also.

Whitetiger brings up some good points.. does it turn over and not start, is it completely dead.. no lights nothing? Dash lights and no turn over.. clicking? More detail please!
