My BX2380 won’t start. I had started it once 10 days ago by jumping on seat. So I think it is safety switch. After several discussions with parts person at dealership and with service manage, I’v determined switch is in the seat. But I don’t see. a way to access it. Anybody know how?

Thank you!

Are you sure it is IN the seat - not under the seat?

First is the PTO disengaged? Forward reverse pedal in the neutral position? The switch is under the seat. Flip the seat forward. Theres a release in the rear of the seat. If it doesn't turn over check the connector on the alternator. Make sure the connection is snug. Its somewhat a common problem.

If your wife does not use the tractor, and children do not have access ......
Maybe bypass that seat switch?
I do not wear a bicycle helmet either, and I am 81 years old.

If the BX2380 is the 'same' as my BX23S, you do NOT need to be sitting in it to start and run the engine, ONLY for driving it.

Did you try the simple things first as in my previous post?
As Greensville stated above you do not need to be sitting in the seat to start it!
Obviously its not the seat switch. The switch shuts off the engine if your driving it and come up off the seat. Again common causes and simple ones are the treadel pedal is not in the center position , the plug going to the alternator is loose (Kubota needs a better plug) and is the PTO disengaged!

How can I bypass seat switch?
If you locate the two wires leading to that switch, and connect them together, the tractor will think that someone is always in the seat.

Don’t take this as too insulting …but if you don’t know how to by-pass a switch…and if it took a dealer to diagnose a bad switch…. You are the type of operator those switches are designed to save from themselves. Pay someone to repair it properly. IMO

Ok.. if this BX2380 is the 'same' as the BX23S it could be this simple...
Open hood, goto right side of engine, find the starter, look to see if the 'control wire' is OFF.
Kinda common that the female spadelug connector on the wire vibrates off teh male tang on the starter solenoid. BTDT.. recent reply to another 'won't start', same issue.

In the OP's defense, some seat switches may be two pole, with a normally closed and normally open side. If so, then by passing becomes a bit more complicated for non electrical people.

Don't have a clue if the OP's seat switch is one or two pole though.

Still...if you don't know what your are doin', then it does make sense to pay someone who does to do it for you. IF you can find such a person. Dealer will obviously not modify safety devices or eliminate them.

Your switch is not "in" the seat and you can definitely start the tractor while standing on the ground next to it.
Either you were not clear with the service manager (or he with you) or he knows nothing. (and maybe you should seek advice elsewhere) like here and the 5 guys who've seemingly given you good , honest and free advice.

REspectfully,

Thats an accident waiting to happen for the inexperienced. Now you can get off the tractor with the mower deck and or PTO spinning! Yee Haw! Way to go! (y) I guess you forgot to mention that?

I am just a very practical can do type, old guy!
I have been around machinery for 81 years!
I sometimes forget that the USA is now populated with incompetent, careless, stupid people.
I still don't wear a bicycle safety helmet while driving my car!
