We continued to work on cleaning up. Had several old barrels to move out of the way.

As we were cleaning up, I slid grapple first into a tree and the tree went right over. So I pushed it around a little so we could cut it up and hall it to the pile.

Smoothed out part of the drainage ditch and we planted more grass.

20211120_115541.jpg

We cleared out more old fencing. We have a pile of concrete bricks that need to be disposed of and some more trees that have been damaged from storms and split.

Here are some old before pictures of the area

Knocked an old lean to/chicken coop/barn down months ago. Have finally picked back up on getting it cleaned up using the Kubota and dump trailer

No pictures, cause it’s boring.

Finished up my Summit 3rd function install, electrical is my nemesis. No idea why, just don’t like doing it. Tapped in to keyed hot, will add a switch later on.
And started on the Lown performance grill guard/chain bucket install.

As others have said - get the pallet forks!

Made a couple trips to Baileys Discount http://www.baileysdiscountcenter.com/ last week and picked up 12 Trinity SS rolling work cabinets. They’re new but damaged units but for $399 each I’m ok with that (both 72” and 66”). Hell of a load for my 10’ trailer! Wife wanted a couple of stand up desks too. Anyways, I offloaded last week and stuffed them in garage - stacked them better today.

Took a pic of wife with Mr. Bailey too 😊

Actually started last fall, returned 4 days ago to attempt to finish the job before the ground freezes.

We had a jungle of Russian Olive and Salt Cedar along about 150 yards of our river frontage. Last fall, I pushed down a lot of the Russians and the Salt Cedar getting a flat rear, a bent hood and grill, and a punctured radiator. An expensive and difficult undertaking. Spent the past week dragging trees and pulling stumps, aquiring another rear flat....then crushing into a large piles (one pictured) for burning. Spent all afternoon using the blade to somewhat level some of the area. Still have a lot of limbs and small pieces of broken tree trunks. Here’s a few pictures of the project.....however, like a dummy, I failed to take photos before I started!🤬🤬 memtb

Looks like you got a great deal!

I don’t use my forks much but for some jobs (like that one) they’re priceless.

My son’s visit continued and he wanted to keep working wood so he and my wife/his mom split wood while I hauled logs from the windfall in the creek bottom back to the wood lot and kept enough cut into blocks to keep them busy. Still work to do before we’re done for the year, but decent progress for only about 4 hours over 2 days. Having the grapple to shove brush out of the way and knock down little scrubby junk for access sped things up a good bit.

Bringing it back in 7’ sections takes multiple trips but I lift it a grand total of 2 times; once to put it on the splitter and again to stack it. It’s all grapple work before that. I don’t know if that’s the most efficient way. Sure is the easiest with our layout.

I’m glad that my trees weren’t as large as yours......pushing those over would have been quite a work-out for my little Kubota! 😁 memtb

Just some overdue maintenance last night.

My forward facing light bar that is magnetically mounted to the ROPS crapped out a month or so ago. I'm replacing it with 2 smaller lights, one mounted on each side.

I found there wasn't enough forward / side illumination with the light bar so I'm canting these outwards a few degrees. Will adjust as necessary.

I have my ballast box outside and was concerned about water filling the 'storage' holes and freezing. They are already half full. . . So cut pieces of foam pipe insulation to an inch longer than the length of the hole and inserted them in each hole. Held down by a rock / brick. Some expansion space for the ice.

Have you considered buying a tree puller? I got this about a month ago and have been pulling olive and rose out roots and all.

Actually.....I didn’t! Having purchased that may have been less expensive than damages incurred!

I had such a small section to clear.....not certain the cost would/could be justified! Ah....the beauty of hindsight! memtb

Decided it was time to put the cab on the B2650 and get ready for snow before it was too late!

Step 1: Lift and place the rear half on tractor
Lifting Rear Cab Half.jpg Rear Half in Place.jpg

Step 2: Lift and place the front half
Lifting Front Half.JPG Front Cab in Place.jpg

Step 3: Lift and place the roof. Put door on hinges.

Installed a few bolts and done! Now all that's left is to hook up the heater hoses, connect the lighting, and mount the snow blower. An easy afternoon later today or maybe tomorrow, as there's a good "Western" on tv this afternoon!!

Nice cab David! How do you like that heater? Good output? Im trying my ceramic heater this year that came free with the soft cab. I imagine I will run plumbing for a real heater eventually!

Is that a manufactured cab or your own design? I like it!

Thanks, Leveraddict!! The heater works great and I can blow snow in shirt sleeves in -20F. See the link below for more info. Or just ask.

Thanks, Bill. My own design according to my needs. (Still making small improvements as time allows.)
I have to clean up some wiring and make it easier to plug in/unplug lighting, etc.

More info on my cab build and heater install: here
