re: Do you know how hard that is to do?

As for the bolts Kubota supplied, you do need some clearance. You can't put a 5/8" bolt into a 5/8" hole.
Not sure if you mean literally or that it's not a good idea when trying to line up a bunch of holes in two parts that bolt together, but that's exactly what I and EA did. I provided confirmation of the hole locations, EA cut them accordingly and provided eleven 5/8" bolts, nuts and washers. When I removed the factory bolt on cutting edge my first thought was "good luck getting this to work", but there were no issues at all.

This thread has gone off the rails as usual with some telling us how they'd run a company employing 50+ people, and how they'd do it so much better. This thread is about tooth bars. I like mine, many like the BX, wait times have increased regardless of who makes it. Pick your poison and get digging.

Surely no one has actually used both of the popular tooth bars, but I would love to hear some testimonials on the one that you chose and why.

BXpanded Piranha Toothbar

EA Wicked-Tooth-Bar
I somehow missed this thread.

looks like you’re in the market for a tooth bar on a larger tractor than the BX.

I really like my tooth bar which is designed I think for a skid steer, but is very substantial and strong, and I can put it on and off in a matter of a couple minutes.

I thought I had a better picture. It is V-shaped and slips over the bucket edge, and is held in place by two shoulder bolts that go through the bucket sides.

For me there is no way I would want anything different than this. Super strong, easily removable, and does what I need.

We have a CNC plasma cutter, if I knew it was going to take 2 months I would have made my own.The virus excuse is worn out.
I just got a quote (local production shop) on laser cutting 200 pieces from 5/16 plate. Lead time quoted @2 weeks. They are fully staffed and have been back to normal operations for months now. The virus and unemployment payment excuses wore out quite some time ago. Of course items made from Unobtainium are still in short supply :devilish:

Aren’t Unobtainium and Managementium used to make the purest Crapalloy?

Less than 20 employees.
The Green tractor guys aren't happy either.

re: Do you know how hard that is to do?

I didn't have any problems drilling the 7 holes(5/8"D+) for my BX23S toothbar, using a benchtop Chinese made drillpress'. As for the bolts Kubota supplied, you do need some clearance. You can't put a 5/8" bolt into a 5/8" hole.

5/8" bolt should be .625000" in OD, 5/8" hole should be .625000 ID
normally the hole will be a few though bigger. A machinest might go 1/64" oversized, backyard bodger, 1/16"...depends on what bits are still left in the drill box.
you cannot put a 5/8" bolt into a 5/8" hole, though Old Bob's installation tool will do it, it'll deform the bolt or hole a tad....

As every machinist knows a drilled hole will always be a few thousandths oversize. That's why tight tolerance holes are drilled undersize and reamed to finish size. I have drilled hundreds of 5/8" bolt holes and you will not need a hammer to fit a 5/8" bolt in a 5/8" drilled hole. Machinery's Handbook estimates .008 average oversize for a 5/8" drilled hole with a minimum of .003. If hand drilling your hole will wind up even more oversize.

You will however have difficulty matching a third party drilled hole pattern such as in your tooth bar if you do not drill a bit oversize. For machine located and drilled patterns a typical clearance hole in something like that toothbar is 1/64th (.015) over. If locating by hand you will likely need more clearance to allow for the increased location error.

Here is my most accurate "drill press" and even it drills oversize.

Interesting that the 'Handbook' says 3-8 thou bigger. I've got a few .25000 reamer(yeah 3 zeros after the 25..)s here from a custom job 2 decades ago. They were kinda pricey back then, can't give them away( 2 thumbers have NO idea what they are....).
One potential problem for mass produced items is temperature. Hot steel tends to shrink when it gets back to room temp, so things might not line up if drilled hot, assembled cold.

Just took delivery of my B2601 today, yeah! I intend to buy the Piranha as I think it will do a great job for what I want to do, a little cheaper and shorter lead time I think.... That said my bucket is backordered and no idea when I will see it! For now the grapple is what I want to use anyways!

They screwed up on mine. The tabs are short of reaching the side of bucket by 3/4".Bucket measured 58" the order says 58" came in 57 1/4"
