I just bought a house in the country that came with a 2014 L3200. I see the red handle on the back for "oil" but how do you check how much is in there and what is the preferred weight should you need to add? If I brsuh hog for about an hour, it will suddenly lose power to the point it limps back to the shop. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am handy with a wrench but literally no experience with a tractor.

The red fill cap at the back is for the hydraulics. There is a sight glass near the clutch pedal that shows the hydraulic fluid level. Recommend only using Kubota sudt 2 fluid in the hydraulic system.

Having "inherited" a tractor your first step should have probably been changing all fluids and filters. Yes, the oil fill at the rear is hydraulic fluid. If you lose power after an hour you may have a blockage somewhere in the fuel system. Break the line after the fuel tank and see if you get full flow. If it starts to taper off after a couple of minutes you've located the source of your problem. You may also want to replace the fuel filter (possibly clogged) and bleed the air out of the fuel lines.

Download the L3200 workshop manual from Kubotabooks. It will be very helpful. Find it at:

Wise to change all fluids and filters as suggested above.

It's trying to down load the manual - yes it's normal!!

I have my cover off but that's the location in the photo for viewing the level of hydraulic fluid... I run John Deere hydraulic red dye, 6ml. I also, run mine full. STICK with Kubota hydraulic!!!

So about the power issue, is this a manual (gear) or hydrostatic (HST) tractor?? If it's HST my guess is that you are not used to driving one. You are most likely in to high of a gear in which you need to give it LESS pedal which in turn will transfer more torque to the wheels.

kubotabooks site looked fishy and was asking me to download something. Is that normal...I didn't let it...thanks for the advice!
I actually tried it again clicking directly on your link and it worked without having to "download" something. THanks

It's the HST version. The sympton was more than torgue to the wheel. When I realized it didn't seem right, I disengaged the PTO and as I got closer to the shop it had less and less power. Very strange.

If you have no tractor experience, get the owner/operator manual and read it from cover to cover. Then check all the fluid levels, air pressure and grease all the zerks. Familiarize yourself with all the controls. Check the air and fuel filters and change if necessary. Power Service in the tank is a good idea. Then see where things stand.

PS: It's a long shot, but when it loses power, take the fuel cap off and put it back on. If it's not venting, it could be starving for fuel. Unlikely, but worth a try,

The first thing to do if you are losing power is to change the fuel filter. Do not look at it a say it looks good, change it. You can not see a plugged up fuel filter.

Most important for a new L3200 owner is to not let the temperature gauge go above half-way. You have to watch it like you're piloting an airplane.

Loss of power sounds like a fuel problem. Agree with everyone to change the fuel filter, and read the manual on how to bleed out air. Only need the paper part and the small o-ring, re-use the large o-ring. It may be the vent, as also mentioned. A good time to check the air filter for dirt and critters. Should not need to change the inside air filter.

Went to Kubota store, they sold me the plain UDT fluid instead of UDT2, when I pressed, they said it could use either and UDT is cheaper...so here goes!
