The amount of tilt is very difficult to control. The movement is so fast when the valve is activated that I have to tilt back and forth several times in order to get it where I want it. Does anyone know how to slow the movement down?

I would get the .031 and drill out as needed. While 1 should work on the rod end port, I recommend that you use 2, 1 at each coupler at the hose end is the easiest way to do this with generic fittings.
