Hey, everyone!

Have a problem with my B2650 w/HST and 3rd function valve kit installed. I get a spraying hydraulic leak from the elbow connected to the tank port whenever I lift with the 3-PTH. It is a serious stream when an implement is attached; it splashes the driver side tire. One of the lines to the 3rd function valve is attached to the port where the elbow is connected. I do not have anything attached to the front of the tractor and am not utilizing an implement that requires the third function valve when the leak occurs. Have tried tightening everything with no luck. The leak appears to be coming from around the top of the nut attached to the elbow. The next step is to take it to the dealer unless someone has an idea.

Thanks in advance!

That's a JIC fitting they seal via two matching tapers. I would try removing the line from where it's leaking and inspect both tapers for any problems. obviously this need to be done with the tractor off and no pressure. If you don't find anything then clean both the hose end and the tank end and reinstall if it still leaks you will have to replace either the 90, the fitting it attaches to, or both.

In the first picture it looks like 90 is not on strait and that could cause a leak between the two taper sealing surfaces. Its worth a shot to try reinstalling the hose to the fitting maybe it will fix it. let us know it if does or not.

RCflyer330, thanks.

Pulled everything thing apart. It looks like a bad design/install on the 3rd function valve kit. The upper portion of the elbow and hose connections are in contact with the rear seat plate that attaches between the rear fender. It puts enough pressure down to bend the connection at the elbow. There is an additional adapter on the tractor that is not shown in the Land Pride installation guide. This adapter forces the connection up too high. The elbow fitting finally gave up after 180ish hours. The nut on the elbow fitting is warped adding to the problem. (The warping may have happened over time.)

Have a new elbow on order as the other fittings look okay. That said, I have to believe I will have this problem again unless I can come up with another connection means without the adapter. This could be a pain.

I self installed a Summit 3rd function kit on my B2650 and don't remember running into that problem. I'll take a look at mine and see if the plumbing is somehow different or have the same fittings with no issues. I'll take some pics if there's something completely different. Your situation seems out of the norm.

It is a Land Pride 3rd Function Valve. Am very interested to see what you have, Bird Dogger. If it is different, there is some hope.

I installed a summit kit on my LX2610. Here is the banjo fitting that goes under the seat pan. Could probably match up easily.

I took a look already, but sorry my setup is a little different. I had the backhoe installed with the tractor purchase so I didn't have to change the plumbing leading back to the 3 pt hitch hydraulics. My 3rd function valve installed between the loader and backhoe, thus the return from the backhoe stayed the same. Here's a pic of that fitting under the seat pan:

Sorry, I can't be of much help in your case. Maybe there'd be a reasonably cheap way to convert from a banjo fitting (as pictured) to your JIC fittings? Do you have a good hydraulics store nearby that could (with your pictures) offer you a better way to make the connections without hauling your tractor in?

Thank you, everyone! The banjo fitting is a new one for me. I now know what to look for when I visit a local hydraulics shop.

UPDATE.

I went to several hydraulic shops in my area and struck out on the banjo fitting. Places made those type of fittings, but not for the size needed. At one place multiple people at the shop took a look at what was needed, whistled and said "What the hell were they thinking?" (We agreed that we all had a special place in our hearts for people who design stuff like this.)

I ended up getting another elbow fitting to replace the leaking one to get up and running. The lower adapter was fine and re-used it. It isn't leaking now, but still has pressure on it from the plate/bracket above it. The previous elbow lasted 180 hours and am hoping the replacement lasts long enough to locate the correct part to correct the issue. The 3rd Function Valve kit from Summit Hydraulics appears to have a banjo fitting that should work. Hopefully they will reply to the email sent to them asking for a part number and cost. If this falls through, I may be having a custom line made with an elbow/curved tube built into it.

PS: Thanks again to everyone who chimed in on this! It has helped out a bunch!!!

Meanwhile, you shouldn't have to but you might try either shimming that plate above up a tad if that's possible. Or you could try to relieve the spot that hits your fitting underneath with a little grinding on the bottom side of that plate. Again, you shouldn't have to but it just might buy you the time you need to find the right banjo fitting. I'm betting that Summit will respond quickly and get you fixed up.

The Kubota OEM 3rd function kit (at least for the LX2610) has a custom hardline connected to the banjo bolt (see @bird dogger's photo above). You may be able to get just that, the banjo bolt, washer and the crush washers through Kubota if the other option doesn't work out.
