I would like to purchase a box blade for my BX 2230 but I am not sure what size to buy! It will be used mainly for lawn re-grading. Topsoil would be loader spread as needed, and then boxed in as needed. I possibly would modify the box blade with a 6ft channel iron clamped to the box as a wider "float" bar! Would a 5ft scraper box be too much for this size tractor? Your thoughts invited! thanks

Tink - - you want a 48" to cover your wheel tracks, plus a little. Some have gone to 54", but I think a 60" is too big for a BX.

I run the 1260 on my B2601......it feels like it might be a little on the upper end for a BX and the 54". if you can get a 54" (I never looked at them personally) might be the ticket.

thanks for the reply.I too think a 48" is the right size, however i would like to use the box for snow pushing. therefor a 60" would be my choice! i really would not be using it much for stripping and moving earth, it would be more of a unit for fine grade and snow pushing. again your thoughts invited.

I’ve used a 48 on a BX for 8 years. Done yard regrading, driveway profiles, snow pushing and pulling....favorite implement.

While a 54 will gain some width, a 60 is too big. Depending on light/medium/heavy duty, a 60 may be all your tractor wants to pull, even empty. I’m certain I wouldn’t/couldn’t use a 60 BB without my loader on for weight. I use my 48 all the time that way.

It will extend outside your wheelbase enough where you could hit stuff if not paying attention.

I use mine a lot. Sometimes I wish it was 54. Never 60.

Get a 60” back blade for snow. Can often be found used for cheap if you move quickly on an internet sale. Angled will cover your tracks and can push/pull in both directions.

This is mine.
