I had a large piece of lumber fall on the hood of my L3200 and put a rather large dent in it. Repair shop wanted at least $300 to fix and because it was on a crease I'd most likely be left with some bare metal. The tractor is 8 years old and shows the effects of use. That mostly being scuffs from tree branches and some fading of the paint. So that meant touch up the dented area, which would look terrible. Paint the hood, which would look poorly and be expensive, or paint the whole tractor, which was out of the question.

Now I know this won't be for everybody, but... I took off all painted parts, beat the dent out best I could with a mallet, sanded, sanded, more sanding. Sprayed primer on any bare metal, and used a product called Raptor Liner. I'm not done, going to apply what I hope will be a smoother top coat, but I'm pretty happy. Oh, found a company that produced a Kubota orange tint. I'm pointing at the dent.

Had a whopper dent in the hood of the open station M9 I bought 2 years ago. Kubota wanted just under a grand for a new top section (I have a 3 piece hood). My dealer had the dent removed and the top repainted for a couple hundred and it came out tits. Even put on new 'Kubota M9000' decals.

That is way cool. Like a Kubota rhino lining. Please post pics when you’ve reassembled.

Great job and find.

If the paint did not crack and you can get behind it, dents can be removed and often the repair invisible. 'Paintless Dent Repair'.
It entails applying pressure the opposite of the pressure that caused the dent and properly supporting the metal. Metal is a semisolid fluid.
I remember many years ago, a car that had serious front end damage. It was put on a frame machine. A jig was used to grab teh front of the car exactly as what the car hi. The jig was pulled in the exact opposite direction of the collision. Once pulled, it was imperceptible the car had hit anything. It was amazing. The whole process took a few hours.
Ever seen a person make a curved auto fender from a flat sheet of aluminum? Hammering, with tiny taps, slowly the shape forms and the 'hammer dings' are not even there. Patience.
