Hey there from armpit Illinois. Just bought myself a bx1880 so I could continue to work on my yard. So far I’m loving it. I’m eyeballing implements and came across a a LA203 and was wondering if by chance one of you guys would know if that model would fit. I’ve been trying to find an answer but everywhere I’ve looked so far comes up with an 1860 and 1870. Not even a mention of the 1880 one way or another. Anyone have any experience or knowledge?

Tractordata.com show the loader for a BX1880 is a:LA344

Messicks shows two loaders for a BX1880. LA344 and LA344S.

I do not know what the difference is.

Finding a loader for your tractor will not be easy unless you go to the aftermarket with a company like WOODS.

Woods loader

The cost for a loader is usually a shock to most owners.

The advice often given on this forum is to buy a tractor with a loader rather than buying a tractor and then installing a loader.

As far as the LA203, anything is possible if you have the welding and fabrication skills but just bolting on, very doubtful.

It is for a smaller BX series tractor from what I see.

Watching this short video by Messicks on the significance of loader model numbers will help you.

Not discounting anything you said and sound advice as always. Difference in the loaders is the la 344s is labeled different for the bx23s model. Same loader, different label for warranty purposes if I remember the Messick video correctly

I do not disagree with your point!

The video I watched did not address the "S" at all.

I wondered, without any reason, if the S was for a mechanical self leveling design.

In any event, doubtful if a used loader of either model can be found unless a fire damaged tractor is being parted out

Nevermind, I was wrong. The loader is numbered different on the bx23s.

I wonder if the s is for the ssqa equipped loader?

LA344 is a pin on bucket. LA344S is SSQA (quick attach) bucket. Either will work for the 1880. If I were buying a FEL for an 1880, I'd buy the one designed for it.
