Manual for the B2650 says to engage the pto (slowly) at idle speeds to prevent shock to the hydraulic system. The B2650 is just a big hydraulic system powered by a diesel motor. Not sure on how the zero turn pto is set up, but it may be something to consider.

I'm not sure how similar they are either. I noticed on videos that people seem to engage them like I've been doing......half throttle, engage PTO, then throttle up to full. I guess I will stick to that.
I engage my 326, 331, and 1211 at mid throttle so I don't lug the engine. Re: uneven cut, blindly lowering the deck wheels is not the way to go. You are going to gouge turf and burn through deck wheels. Check your manual for the correct setting. I vary cut height over the season and generally keep the front deck wheels about 3/4" off the ground.
On what schedule are you all doing your most frequent greasing? I see Kubota recommends greasing the deck and u-joints daily. That is a bit vague and I assume that is based on a full day of running.
If you grease every time you re-fuel, it's easy to track, and it works out to be every 10-12 hours use which is about a commercial operator's day.
Yeah, I guess that would be a good way to do it. I went ahead and greased the deck and u-joints. I was told the mower was greased already. But, as I have experienced with my tractor I purchased last year, that doesn't mean it was. I don't think any of the u-joints were greased, other than what already came in them upon assembly. While greasing, I noticed wires hanging down on the deck near the belt. As some of you with these mowers know, the mower has a horn that will go off if the engine gets too hot. The wires were to the horn. I plugged them onto the horn assembly. It just makes me wonder how these things get overlooked.
Reviving an old thread. So far, I have not had any issues with my new mower. It cuts nicely and most importantly....fast. I am amazed at the how little time it takes to cut my place now.
Anyway, checking the fuids, the deck gearbox oil might need just a bit added at this point. I keep a good check on everything. The manual calls for 10W30 oil. When I was at the dealer the other day getting supplies for my L2501 50 hour service, I said I wanted a quart of 10W30 for my Zero turn deck gearbox. The salesman said to just use the UDT hydraulic fluid because that was what is in it. So, what do you all think? I'm sure he is telling the truth, but I know the book says 10W30. I think I may just drain and add 10W30 like the manual states. Thoughts/comments?

Check and follow your manual. My mower gearbox uses SAE90 gear oil. It uses only 0.4L so it's not like you are going to break the bank.
Changing the oil can be messy on my machine as there is no space to put a catch basin. I made a U channel so I can catch the drainage and divert it to a bowl at ground level. Stuff the area with rags before draining and it will save you a messy clean up later.

I will go with 10W30. Mine also holds .4L just like yours. Same gearbox perhaps? Reading around it seems the gearboxes take UDT, 80W90 and 10W30 depending on machine/manual. I bet any would work, but I'll go by the manual. Thanks.
