Yeah, I guess that would be a good way to do it. I went ahead and greased the deck and u-joints. I was told the mower was greased already. But, as I have experienced with my tractor I purchased last year, that doesn't mean it was. I don't think any of the u-joints were greased, other than what already came in them upon assembly. While greasing, I noticed wires hanging down on the deck near the belt. As some of you with these mowers know, the mower has a horn that will go off if the engine gets too hot. The wires were to the horn. I plugged them onto the horn assembly. It just makes me wonder how these things get overlooked.
