Just bought a 2012 - BX25 with 40 hours on it, barely used always garaged. Started and ran fine for a 30 minutes or so of tooling around. Took it on a down hill sloped path, turned a 180 and and started driving it back up hill. Started to bog down and then killed the engine. (had it in high range, oops)

I restart and it runs at idle / low throttle but when I throttle it up it bogs and dies, try this 3 or 4 times same result won't throttle up. (fuel tank is 3/4 full) Then it stops cranking over at all. Turn the key, Dash lights come on, headlamps will turn on, battery seems fine. Turn ignition off, turn it on hear a click but no crank..

Lift up seat, play around with the seat safety switches seem to be working mechanically, not stuck or anything. Move all the levers around and try ignition at various lever positions, still no crank.....

Previous owner says it sat in garage for approx 1 year with full tank, but no use. Thinking the throttle issue is maybe need to bleed air from fuel line?

Thinking the no crank issue is probably a safety interlock switch somewhere, seems there a lot of them..

Ideas?

I would guess that you need to change the fuel filter. When you do look for some black gunk in the filter or around the edge of the separator as you take it apart. That old of a tractor with that few of hours there is a good chance of algae in the fuel, the black gunk. Go to the auto parts store and get some Power Service Biocide. It will kill off any algae in the fuel system.

Do not look at the filter and say it is good, just replace it. Often a good looking filter is damaged/dirty enough to stop the flow of the fuel.

You said you tried to start it several times and at first it would roll over but not now, so I would put a charger on the battery. Put it on slow charge over night. See if that will let you start it. I am guessing the battery has set to long. Take it, after you have charged it, to the auto parts store and have them bench test it.

All good suggestions above. I will add don't be surprised if fuel still doesn't flow freely. I if you have algae issues my may have blockage at the tank exit, too.

First, look at the Product Identification tag on the frame, see what model of tractor you have as there is no such critter as a BX2506.

Ok, took the battery out trickle charged it over night and took it the auto parts store and the tester says its a good battery. Put it back in, still no crank. Ordered new fuel filter should be here tomorrow so I can swap that out.

Good job on describing the problem and symptoms.

Fuel and battery important.

Getting the starter to turn. Suggest getting a wiring diagram that you can print out. Take hiliter and trace the starting circuit. Work back from the starter solenoid to a choke point like a starter relay. If the coil is not getting power, then next to safety. No power from safety, then each switch in turn such as seat, neutral, pto, etc.

Good time to examine grounds and make sure clean and tight.

Nothing magic, just takes time to work thru it.

An owner looking for help would be wise to pay attention to Whitetiger's post!!

Neither of us can find model you say you have namely a BX2506. Messicks does not recognize the model.
Kubota.ca same thing.

To help you people need to be able to look at a wiring diagram if the troubleshooting is to be done i any sort of a logical fashion.

I would follow Jim's advice. Check both battery and frame-mount ends of ground wire, and make sure ground is not broken.

Also, check positive battery cable for breaks, clean/tight terminal connections.

Since you're getting a click, makes me think it's a simple electrical issue to rule out first. There can be other causes of course, but start simple.

We get it turning over, and then we'll get to the fuel issue...

I see you changed model to BX25.

Filters are a good start, I hope you ordered two. There is one underneath the tractor before the electric lift pump, and another up near the injection pump on side of engine. Both the same in-line filter, just in two locations. I'd suspect the first one, between the tank and lift pump before the second one near the IP, but they both need to be changed....….

Good luck!

Dave - I did notice he changed the model to BX25 in his first post.

Don't know if he can edit the Title are in this new format? You couldn't edit Titles in the "old" OTT format....

To the OP, two things you need are an Operator's Manual and a Workshop Manual (WSM).

Try finding them here:

Isn't there an inline fuse or burnable link? I am not sure what you call it but it would / could be blown due to the repeated attempts to start the tractor. Just thinking back to what you all have written about in the past on here. I know very little about the electrical system on these.

OP in post 1 says that he still has headlamps. For now, should investigate what is happening going to the starter solenoid. Bad connection(s), bad relay, bad safety module, bad safety switch, pto engaged, etc.

[/QUOTE] (I couldn't find a way, also can't seem to change username, ha ha, jokes on me ;)

Ok, so the tractor is BX25D according to original invoice.

Had the seat up/key on and found that I could hear a solenoid click on/off every time I wiggled the wires that connect to what I believe is the safety cutoff switch for the differential lock pedal. (see pics)

Its a four spade connector and it has a loose connection. Disconnected it cleaned it up shimmed the prongs, plugged it back in and the starter now cranks the motor. I ordered the full filter kit off amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CSBTI98/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 figured I would just change them all out.

I did crawl under the tractor and pulled the fuel line off of the metal can thing that is inline right after the fuel filter. When I did so I got a nice solid gravity flow stream of Diesel, looked nice and clear no signs of gunk. But still the tractor will not throttle up. Just runs at idle and either does not respond to increased throttle or starts to increase rpms then bogs and dies.

Any way tomorrow I will receive and change out the filters and do further inspection on the fuel flow into the carb.

After watching this video I believe it's the fuel pump, because he had the same issue runs fun on level ground dies when going up hill.

Anyways just order the fuel pump too, now I wait til Saturday ;)

Ok, so apparently I'm not getting power to the fuel pump and I'm not sure what to do next as electrical is not my expertise!

Replaced the fuel pump and both filters, not getting any fuel out of the new fuel pump (or the old fuel pump) therefore I'm assuming there is no power to the fuel pump.

Checked all the fuses and the "ACC" fuse was blown. Put in a new fuse, cranked it over (still no fuel from pump) rechecked ACC fuse and it was blown again!

Seems the two issues are related but not sure...

I would like you to be clear about one part of your description.

You talk about throttling up.

Previous posters of machines with HST have thought they were "stepping on the gas pedal" when they depressed the HST forward/reverse pedal.

A throttle and a HST pedal are two different things and it is important to know as advice is offered trying to sort out your difficulties.

well if the fuse keeps blowing you have a circuit or component that is pulling more amperage than the fuse (and wiring) is rated for. You'll have to find/fix that problem first before throwing more fuses into it. Could be failed component on that circuit. Could be a short-to-ground situation. Grab your wiring diagram and see what's on the circuit, then walk back to the tractor with the knowledge and find your issue. It's not that hard. That said if you have little or no electrical expertise, you may find it beneficial to hire it out to someone who does. Most 12v systems are real simple with a BX tractor being no different however where the big challenge lies is with the subcompactness of that little tiny tractor, which means the components are buried amonst a bunch of other stuff that bigger tractors have, just in a smaller package making access difficult at times.

Well guys I figured it out! The wires that lead to the fuel pump were frayed and shorting on the frame causing the fuel pump to not work and the fuse to blow.

Been a hell of a weekend crash course on tractor maintenance and repair but I learned a lot and got it it running.

Thanks to all for your assistance!
