Poop! L4701HST too

Sigh..... Got my letter. Brand new machine. I haven't even gotten used to using it and I need it to start on the fire breaks.

I have left multiple voice mails and multiple emails to the dealer, sales, service etc with no answer yet.
AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGG!!!!!
OK. Got that out of my system.

Now I sort of feel sorry for the Dealer and the mechanics. Its not their fault. Where I am currently at (Solono county CA) it is a super busy time for planting and working the winery's and stuff.

Time to start working on digging out the 9N and the AC Model M to see if they can make it one more season without killing me.
If it wasn't this, I would be complaining about something else.

You could probably use your new tractor without much issue. My dealer said "you'll know if when it acts up, just shut the key off and put the brake on, leave it in the field, and we'll come and get it."

Thanks, It might come to that. I kind of want to find out what dangers lurk if it does go "prang". I have an area of fire break that is steep and is why I needed the 47hp for going up and down with the disk---sideways will roll it for sure.

I swear my Dads spirit lives on in our 1935 AC model M. It may have to put in one more fire break season if it will start up and not throw a track.

HST recall update (for me at least)

This is an email I got from my dealer after I told him what HST serial number I had.

""Okay the list of transmission serial numbers that Kubota sent late yesterday which they call there affected HST Serial Number list only shows numbers up to V960069. So if you have serial number V990073 I think we are going to be okay, but we need clarification from Kubota and I have left the Kubota service center voicemails and sent emails but no response from them yet. They are asking for a picture of the serial number of the HST if you are able to get us one. If not I will probably need to come up sand the paint off to get a good picture of the serial number to send to Kubota so we can see if they will give us a release or what the next step is"".

Taking a picture of the serial number was a pain for me. Had to scrape all that new paint off with a screwdriver than sand paper than water and paper towel it. Keeping my fingers crossed on not being in the recall.

I would have assumed that Kubota would have had a record of what serial number HST went together with the serial number of the tractor but I guess not. All I know is that the letter I got from them says STOP USE of affected equipment NOW.

Sorry new to board and posted in separate thread, but same issue. Received a personal call and the a notice from Kubota about a transmission bolt recall. Kubota has issued a "Stop Use" but my dealer has very little info. In fact they have received no info from Kubota and how to repair. Has anyone had this repair done and if so how quickly was it completed. Here is body of recall notice

I am new here too and am still trying to find my way around.
Yeah, that seems to be like the letter most of us got for a variety of models.

Lot of good info about it in this one thread.

Our 2019 delivered MX5800 just missed it (SN 55184); MX5800 affected units are SN 55887-56223. Yo can call Kubota with your model number and serial number and they can tell you if its affected; 888-458-2682
Thanks for the number. Unfortunately it has been busy (wonder why) and they haven't returned my voice mail msgs.

Wonder why the HST serial numbers are so different between the MX5800 and my L4701?

Where is the hst ser# location? I have a l5460 with cab.
The serial number on my L4701 is right in front of the filter on the left side (drivers side:D). It runs vertically.

I would post a pic but apparently am too stupid to figure out how.

Edit: Hey, I figured it out. Something went right today--Hoooray!

Long time lurker but new poster here. I just got a letter for my L3560 bought last November. Haven’t talked to dealer yet but read through this thread. I use my tractor commercially and right now is a terrible time for this recall (I guess there’s never really a good time though). My tractor sat nearly all of January and February but now when I’m using it wide open everyday this recall shows up. I need a couple more weeks before I have a break in the schedule, so I’m hoping it won’t hurt to wait that long before taking it in.

Good news for me at least

My Dealer just sent this to me:
"I was able to get in touch with the Kubota area service representative and he has been getting calls from all the Kubota dealers today. The good news is I verified that your tractor has a later production HST transmission that isn’t on the affected HST list so your tractor is fine and you can go back to work. I thought we were fine after you sent me the serial but I just wanted to make sure with someone in service from Kubota since everything was happening so quickly and the information wasn’t as clear as it should have been".

Nice guy to be working so late. Also he is sending me a can of grey paint so I can paint over the stuff I scraped off to read the serial#.

Wheeeewwww. I hope everybody else winds up with the same good news.

Thanks for the post.

I am a little confused by the serial numbers since my Dealer was talking 6 digit numbers and the ones on that list are 5 digits.
This was what my Dealer had sent back to me.

I am easily confused but it keeps me amused.

Thanks for the info. I'd be happy to accept a Mini Excavator as a loaner for my L3560. Somehow I doubt that will fly.

Just heard from my dealer and he is coming to get my L4701 next week and loaning me a L4701 DT. He is having to switch out my loader and is installing 3rd function valve like I have on my tractor. I have a decent size farm and this tractor is critical for road maintenance and debris clearing etc, so Ag tractors can get to the field. Fortunately our corn is planted but we Still have to get beans and cotton in the ground. Never a good time for recall but during spring planting it is especially bad

Thanks. After your post and re-reading whitetiger's post I realize it was sort of a dumb question:eek:.
