....The r14 tires unfortunately are not in stock. From what I've been told it seems that the r4's are a longer lasting tire then r14s. Would the wait be worth it? 3 weeks for r14s to come in....
I have R4's and they work fine, but I've not tried R14's so I don't know any better.
Worth waiting 3 weeks? I don't know, that's a long time to wait once you've made your decision to buy! :D

Nice.

Didn't see that you specified it anywhere, but, be sure to get the SSQA loader option. Make sure that your dealer includes it. You do not want a pinned bucket.

One other thing worth mentioning is that the BB your dealer quoted is the light duty version. I could be mistaken, but I think those use clips to secure the scarifiers. I prefer the units that use a pin to hold the scarifiers (like everything attachments units).

I selected the large B as I think it makes for a better "landscaping" tractor.

Both are great machines. You can't go wrong with either.

Best of luck to you.

The dealer wants to much money to fill the tires. You can do it for less money yourself. Watch You Tubes about loading tires.

I know I am opening up a can of worms but the extra weight of the loaded tires makes for a much more stable tractor. The weight is not carried on the axle but instead goes directly down to the ground. This improves the stability when you drive on slopes. You can not always drive perpendicular to the slope of a hill. The extra weight is helpful for stopping power if you live in hilly country. The weight of a trailer can push a lighter tractor down the hill.

The comments about when you get a flat it makes a mess are really out of place. I have had several tractors over the years and, knock on wood, I have never had a rear flat.

I can see tire ballast adding weight for traction but isn't there practically as much liquid weight above the rear axle as below it? If so I'd think it would negate itself as far as adding stability. For stability money would probably be better spent on spacers.

I'm glad you never experienced a flat, unfortunately I have twice, one in the rear which was more like a cut from a buried metal fence post that had broken off just above the ground.

Great feed back, greatly appricated! Sorry, loader is definitely SSQA. Tires I will definitely myself.

Would the bb1560 better choice?

Good deal on the SSQA loader.

Regarding the BB. That's a matter of personal preference. Would a 60" cover your tracks on an L series? I would think a 66" would be a better fit.

In the attached pic, the arrows point to the pinned connections I was referring to. One additional arrow shows extra gusset weld on the EA units.

Anyway, just trying to be helpful.

Dirtydeed,
Do you know the model of that box blade?
I see what you mean about gussets. Thanks for pointing that out.

The one that I have (in the picture) was from everything attachments. I think they call it the extreme duty. It's a 60" with just 4 scarifiers. I believe that they only use 4 scarifiers on that size due to HP and weight limits of tractors that pull it.

Overall, I've been real happy with the construction of this box blade. I think I got it approx 2 years ago for a good price and shipping was "free". Oh, and you can get them in orange too if that matters to you. If your interested, give them a call. Ask for Travis.

They also have many youtube videos of their products.

On the L2501 the stock TPH stabilizers are turnbuckles. Have your dealer throw in telescopic stabilizers part number L8430 if they are not already included in the quote. You will be glad you did.

Great point wgator. I have them on my B and wouldn't be without them unless I have a quick hitch setup. They do work well.

This is a land pride 12 series box blade. It is pretty light. It does have the clips hold scarifers in, kind of a PITA, but I keep needle nose pliers on the tractor to deal with them. I got it with my used tractor package.

Yes they're well worth it, I would recommend getting either them or a quickhitch. I had them included in my quote but actually forgot about that. Then I discovered I could get $300 more rebate if I bought a second implement so I bought a LP Quickhitch for almost nothing after the $300 rebate. So I have both which is somewhat redundant but I do appreciate the quick hitch every time I switch back and forth between ballast box, rear blade, landscape rake, and flail though.
