Even a certified N-95 compliant mask is not PPE unless it is fit-tested to the individual. Everybody's face is a slightly different shape and no mask seals every face. We are fit tested annually. The process takes about 10 or 15 minutes (probably 1/2 that for the N-95 alone, but we are tested for our SCBA facepieces at the same session). The mask is connected to a test bench by tubing and you have to follow the computer prompts -- bending over, turning your head, talking out loud, deep breathing, etc.Whilst I applaud the sentiment, I'm not sure if I would trust my life to a mask made by a shoe manufacturer who is hoping to "ideally reach FDA standards".
The danger with any PPE which is not specifically designed to a certain standard for a specific purpose is that someone who feels they are protected (but in reality are not) will put themselves in harms way.
I see people wearing dust masks for this virus that don't even work for dust but they feel safe and maybe don't take all the necessary precautions.
Daren Todd;387539 Surprisingly enough they had TP as well. I've never heard of the brand. And I'm not sure if it's the chuck Norris type.[/QUOTE said:That's an institutional brand of TP. Probably lots of it available, since no one is at work to use it.
Yep let hope it's not another train !
I hope it works I can hear the GWN calling me
That's a big IF my friend, not gonna happen. There is no easy out with this one. When I see people on the news standing shoulder to shoulder protesting I just have to shake my head. I just wish it were possible to make these people work in the ER for one week and then see what they think. There is no fixing stupid and ignorance is not bless.if, IF, ALL the people of the World had stood 6' apart for 2 weeks THEN it'd be business as usual.... Effectively everyone had gone on vacation for 2 weeks, the economy wouldn't have been hurt....no big deal...
opening up for business now is bad as it'll allow CV19 to popup again and again.... it's like my arch nemesis Bindweed... attack it, think it's gone, arrrgh, it pops up again, and again....usually with a vengence.
the problem I see is that not everyone is 'social distancing', so CV19 keeps spreading...
Kind of like that game Whack A Mole where you hit one and a another one pops up.if, IF, ALL the people of the World had stood 6' apart for 2 weeks THEN it'd be business as usual.... Effectively everyone had gone on vacation for 2 weeks, the economy wouldn't have been hurt....no big deal...

I totally agree with you Flip, it's too soon, I guess time will tell.Singapore is coming here, make book on it. least here in the USA, not sure about Canada. This 'opening up' the country is way too soon. We can visit this comment in 6 months.
I believe it will carry a lot of weight then.
