I very rarely eat at a restaurant, let alone a fast-food place.

"Plant-based" Whopper at Burger King. The people on the commercial say it tastes just like beef....hmm

Tofurky is made to look and taste like a turkey...hmm

Turkey ham is made to taste like pork.

Turkey or chicken bacon is made to taste like....well, shit as far as I'm concerned....

Don't get me wrong, there are dietary benefits compared to something more fatty. There are also some occasional horror stories about conditions at some commercial meat processors.

I also know that meat comes from an animal, and animals will die for me to eat meat....I'm okay with that. Mother Nature started a trend when she allowed carnivores to exist....:D

I want my beef to taste like beef, chicken like chicken, veggies like veggies, tofu....well, I've never had tofu.....:p

I'm with you on that one!
Up here A&W have a plant based burger. Tim Hortons has a plant based breakfast sausage sandwich.
Haven't tried them, nore will I. I rather my veggies pass thru and add muscle and natural flavour to the critters that I eat.

If being vegetarian is so good, what do they insist in making everything 'taste' like meat. I'll stick with my meat tasting like meat!

Don't get me wrong, I do eat my veggies..... as a side with meat and potatoes. Usually with lots of butter and salt, to cover up some of the veggie taste! Lol

A ate tofu one time. That was enough. If you like rubber, you'll like tofu.

I third the meat to be meat. We are meat eaters after all.

Based on what the guys I work with, the Impossible Whopper isn't that much better for you than a beef Whopper. And why make it taste like beef if you don't want to eat beef? I have always said, if it taste like chicken, it better be chicken and I feel the same way about beef.

I feel that way about meat in general. :D I'm not a fan of hummus, tofu, or any of that stuff. Try to eat healthy.

I've never understood why they want something to taste like meat if they are so against eating meat to begin with.

My wife makes the BEST grilled tofu!

Marinated in her "secret marinade", sprinkled with brewer's yeast, maybe with a melted slice of Vermont Cheddar! Grilled until it's somewhat dry and the grill marks showing proud. Ummm! Good. I can eat it hot off the grill with tarter sauce, sliced in ribbons in just about any salad or sandwich, or just pull it out of the fridge to eat out of hand.

Tofu is GOOD!

But not just out of the packing water. Sort of like lobster, without the butter, they taste like ...ahh...err.... nothing.

Agree with twomany. There is tofu and then there is tofu! The kind made fresh in Japan is another breed of cat. Here tofu needs a marinade of some sort and it takes up the flavor of what it is in. In neither case is it a substitute for meat, but a good source of some types of protein.

Nothing like a good bear roast allowed to simmer on top of a wood stove all day topped off with a nice cold beers after a day hunting. Yummmmm, taste the gravy.

Friend of mine is 73 and decided he didn't like killing things to eat them. So, he gave up meat. After two years, he goes in for a physical and afterwards, the doc calls him back about issues with his blood work. Turns out there was something in meat (primarily beef) that he was very short of and his doc suggested he figure out how to get some beef (red meat) back into his diet -and fast. He's all OK now.

I'll know on Thursday if I'm elk hunting this fall. My must have is a 180 or better bull. Landholder tag.

There is nothing better than a real burger on the grill, I probably won't ever try a meatless burger. But I do like a spicy hummus, on Stacy's pita chips.

One of the local pubs had these "burgers" before BK brought them out. I tried it once. Tasted ok, but within an hour I was hungry. For me it didn't last and with the price of them at the store, it is not a viable substitute for meat. Give me a good double cheeseburger with bacon and if I'm in the mood a nice fried egg.
