Hello everyone
New to the site. I do have a problem with
My L4760 hst not starting. It ran perfect 2 weeks ago
My brother in law had to try and start it last week but the
Battery was dead. He boosted it and I think he may have
Shorted or reversed polarity . The engine turns over and I have
Fuel at the filter but it does not seem to be getting fuel to the cylinders
Is it possible that the Ecm has been shorted. How would you test for that.
I have checked all fuses and they are all good.
Thanks in advance
Dan

Re: Hello

Do the gauges work? Do you here the fuel relay click when you turn on the ignition before you go the starter position?

Reverse polarity can take out he ECM for sure.

Re: Hello

The gauges work and there is an error code
P0605. I believe a generic fault code. I can here the fuel
Pump ticking the whole time while the ignition is on. I’m not sure about a fuel
Relay . Is it just one click . Hard to hear over the clicking of the fuel pump

Re: Hello

P0605 is ECU flash-ROM and CPU abnormality. It results in engine stop if running. The
conditions to set the code are check sum error, erase error, write error, and read error. This kind of thing could have resulted from the battery fiasco. From the sound of the information I have, you willneed a dealer to attach their diagnosis tool and laptop to the CAN2 connector to clear the code. If it stays cleared you are ok, if not the ECU will need to be replaced.

I recommend you do this, and do not muck around in the fuel delivery system. It is different from old style tractors and you could do even more expensive damage.

Re: Hello

Thank you very much for your assistance. I tried
Clearing code through the dash but am unable
To clear it from there. Is the laptop dealer about the
Only way to get this hard code cleared. I’m kinda
In a remote area and would like to attempt everything
Without causing more damage prior to
Calling dealer. Would you suggest I’m there
now?
Thanks

Re: Hello

I suppose that "remote" differs with perception. You appear to be closer to a dealer than I am to any around me.

Dan, You're going to have to bite down on a bullet. There is no magic button. Either haul the machine to a dealer, or have one come out with the diagnostic tools.

All this complexity is because of trying to clean up the air.

Re: Hello

Thank you for your advice I will get in contact with
The dealer and have them diagnose. I appreciate all your
Assistance. I will post finding once I get her
Running again.

Re: Hello

I will be grateful to hear what you learn, and maybe if you call your dealer the tech could talk you through some more diagnostic things. " There but for the grace of God go I" I was trying to put some connectors on my battery to make it easier to connect a battery tender, and having a wrestling match with the wires in the cold and forgot about the consequences of undoing things in the wrong order and shorting stuff. I got away with it, but might not have.

Re: Hello

Well Kubota mechanic has confirmed that the Ecu is not comminicating with their
Laptops so it’s time to replace the ecu . Ouch approximately
$4000. Be careful when you boost it can prove to be expensive!!

Re: Hello

Can you send the ecu out to get repaired? I use flight systems to repair generator boards. They are a great place.
There are alot of places that do ecu repairs it's really worth a look.

Re: Hello

$4000 for an ecu seems crazy, I’m not in the tractor world but the auto world. Might be around $1200-1500 hundred in the auto world installed and programmed, if that. Maybe that tractors a smaller market then autos but damn that’s a lot.

Re: Hello

Rcw I think you have to use the Kubota laptop to enter certain parameters in. Never done it. Lugbolt or Whitetiger would have to respond.

Re: Hello

That would save him a whole lot of $$$, and I do believe a dealer would have to program it. ;)

Re: Hello

On generators it's plug and play, some gm trucks. But you still need a tech 2 scanner to put the I'd number in gm vehicles.
Best thing to do is to call a place that will fix the ecu or buy a used one. Or call kubota.

Gotcha - thanks all. My apologies to the OP for the detour, but I think it's relevant to his prospective $4,000 tab....

Not plug and play, but likely ECU itself is cheaper than OP's dealer price, plus programming to be added. Sounds similar for auto world also, at least GM.

It adds something to my Technology Toolbox...my Technology Toolbox is pretty small....;)

Thanks all again.
