BX 23S vs. 2380

Besides a slight difference in HP, what is different between the 23S and 2380?

I believe they are pretty much the same tractor, except for rear end construction to attach a backhoe to.

The 23s is obviously designed to accommodate a backhoe, whereas the rear end of a 2380 will not accept one, either Kubota or aftermarket.

I have a BX2360... couple generations earlier, and that was the story then with that versus BX24 or BX25/25D, which were designed as tractor/loader/backhoes (TLB).

I don't believe it has changed.

Usual list of differences:

1. Wider ROPs, to make room for the turn around seat

2. Turn around seat so you can use the backhoe (much better than a 3ph backhoe without turnaround seat - as the backhoe sits much closer to the machine, so better departure angle when loading onto a trailer)

3. Subframe that the backhoe attaches to. The BX frame isn't super strong, they decided that it needed reinforcing for a backhoe. The BX23s has that reinforcing, I believe it reaches most of the way along the chassis

4. No 3PH equipment. The hydraulics are there, the arms and top link aren't, you can option them

5. I think the loader is slightly different, but not enough different to care I believe

I think they're actually identical horsepower, they're in the middle of rerating their machines so the horsepower they used to claim is no longer the horsepower they claim. You may have two different sources of info, one before the HP change and one after. I'm pretty sure it's an identical engine.

The biggest reason I went with the 23s over the 2380 was that with the 2380 there is no way to put a back-hoe on it in the future. The sub-frame that comes with the BX23s for the back-hoe is built into chasis so there is no way to retrofit it to a 2380 with out a very expensive labor bill.

I think he means that the 3 point hitch connector arms to connect your implements to the tractors 3-point hitch. The BX23s does very much have a rear PTO and 3-point function, you just need to buy the arms which I think set me back about $160, but I just included them in the financing when I bought the tractor.

Correct, the lift arms are there (the hydraulic bit), the lower arms, turnbuckles and top link are not. They aren't overly expensive, but it's a cost to factor in. I'd also recommend looking for telescoping stabilisers instead of turnbuckles, the turnbuckles generally suck.
