Maybe the old science fiction movies were a warning, about more science and less fiction when it comes to controlling man kind. You guys know Im not a tin foil hat wearer and dont buy into conspearises. This however I feel is one more invasion in to our lives under the guise to make us safe.
OK so this should set me up one more click on the watch list, but then a lot of us ride motorcycles so we ,all of us, are on a watch list, at least Im in good company

Real ID is federal government wanting to get know you better. Law passed in 2005 setting standards for ID used for transportation (TSA, etc) and other government stuff. The requirements have been kicking in since 2014. Domestic air travel will require a Real ID starting Oct 2020.

Most states have updated drivers licenses to be Real ID compliant. PA has delayed it and is finally implementing it.

The government is doing all it can to get all these ID's out there and prove you are you, you need special ID's for flying, driving, getting money from the bank or cashing a check, go to the hospital and a picture ID is required for treatment, I don't know of anyplace that doesn't require a picture ID except the voting booth where you vote for all the IDIOTS that make up these laws about having ID's!

With 20 million illegals estimated in the USA, we'd need 20 million more ID cards. Not having them need a photo ID is just a cost saving measure. It has nothing to do with the fact that non-citizens are prevented by federal law from voting. In several states, those people that were elected want those non-citizens to vote... to keep them in power.

Not requiring photo ID is clearly a scam to remain in power, the laws be damned.

I just talked to my neighbor this afternoon. He has to drive to Topeka (st capitol of Ks) to get a copy of his ORIGINAL birth certificate so he can renew his CDL. He was born in Kansas (although the western part:D:D) and has never resided in another state. Lived and worked here long enough to retire, but they are still not sure he belongs here!!

I guess following the other guys, my wife's driver's license was due for renewal this fall.

NYS now had 3 levels of licenses: a "regular", and another that meets the higher standard and will get you on a plane, and a 3rd that will get you on a plane, plus get into/out of Canada and Mexico(?). That one doesn't replace a Passport, but works there.

She did the Enhanced, since we're close to Canada. I think it was $95 versus $80..

Mine renewed a year or 2 ago. Didn't have that stuff...I'll probably do the Enhanced also before my license expires. Otherwise I can't fly....

I still don't like them F$Ckers getting more information than they need...and I work for the gubbermint***8230;.

In VA, it is a $10 one time (sure....) fee and they charge you another $20 for a 'replacement fee' due to a replacement license being issued.
I did mine in Oct, only got hit with the $10 upgrade fee. Wife did hers yesterday, got the $10 and $20 ones.
When we were at DMV, they wanted her marriage certificate from her first marriage, her divorce decree and then her marriage certificate to me. Then when they actually looked at the docs we brought, the only cared that the name matched on the base items (SS card, Passport, License and utility bill), they had no interest in any of the other BS, which made us made because this was our second visit, our first visit they sent us home to go get the unneeded docs.
Well, it is done. Until the next round of ID-ing happens.

Wait until they require the micro chip in your arm. The military is already experimenting with a select few soldiers by inserting a chip. I forgot exactly where on the body but if I remember correctly it goes under one of the arms either on the torso or the arm itself. Anyway, that is coming down the pipe faster than you know. I also read a story not long ago about another country beginning to do the same thing.

I just have the regular ID and the passport for when I want to travel by air or go into government facilities. Plus, I have the TWIC card to apparently get me in the super secret controlled places (okay maybe not secret, but regulated like airports, docks, etc.).

In my state, it’s just part of renewing your drivers license and there’s a little symbol in the corner of the license to indicate real ID. No extra charge. You do have to bring additional ID such as birth certificate to renew your license.

That ID allows quicker check in at airports. If you don't have that ID you need a pocket of papers to keep going!! Once on your ID it is on all of them afterwards.

We used the same paperwork that is used for a passport when we got ours. It's also the same paperwork used when I got my original Arkansas state driver's license. I had to show my state ID, birth certificate, and marriage certificate when we did ours.

Our CDL drivers have had to have them for awhile now.
