Absolutely normal for it to be hard to disengage from 4wd. A trick I learned from this forum is to use the FEL to raise the front axle and then disengage the 4wd. Works every time!
Yep like others have said it's completely normal, it does get better with use.Although very difficult to disengage 4wd. Is that normal. I have to try several times for the lever to move.
That sounds useful. I'll have to try it on my L5450. I never questioned if stiff switching back and forth from 2 to 4 wheel was a problem. I just did as explained below and use gentle pressure on handle while putting a little pressure on tranny with clutch, engine running of coarse, and never needed to grind any gears.Absolutely normal for it to be hard to disengage from 4wd. Pushing the clutch in can help release some of the tension on the driveline making it easier to shift. That sounds useful. I'll have to try it on my L5450. Hey Toby3294, glad everything is working out for you,and you are back tractoring. Really enjoyed meeting you, and talking about all of our shared hobbies. As others have said, a little push on the hst pedal foward or reverse will normaly really help slip into fwd. As NIW said, will get better with use for sure. Good luck on the deer this year! Ron.Update. Tractor brought back on 6/29 and have put 29hrs on it brush hogging without issues. Although very difficult to disengage 4wd. Is that normal. I have to try several times for the lever to move. Note service has been great from the dealer. Thanks for comments and input. Will update as as I use the tractor.
