I have the older TG1860G 54" deck.

When it works, it works very well and gives a great cut.

Problem now that it is older is that it wants to eat drive belts quickly.

Been looking at the T2380

Any thoughts or opinions from owners ?
I had a T2380 for about 6 years up until I got a BX last year. I enjoyed it. Gave a beautiful cut. I miss the door on the mower deck that would convert from blowing the grass out the side to mulching. I had a snowblower attachment too. It worked very well. The belts could be a bit of a pain sometimes.
Thanks,
Jeff

I just bought a T2290 with a 48" deck in May 2018. Have mowed my 1.6 acre yard 4 or 5 times now, and I think it does a nice cut. Took me a few cuts to get used to all of the features. I find the suspension seat really comfortable, and the steering is super easy with 14" turning radius. Who needs power steering, with how easy this turns! The override to keep the blades spinning when you hit reverse catches me every once in a while (tries to shut down engine, if you don't first engage the override); but once you engage it, it stays engaged until you manually shut off the blades.

One thing that doesn't work right is the parking brake lock knob. Supposedly you depress the brake pedal, then pull out the lock knob to lock the brake (which I like to do, so I can leave engine running while jumping on/off the tractor). It worked a couple of times, then started not working. Two days ago, it got stuck in the brake locked position, and I couldn't move the tractor. Finally got it disengaged. Looking at the cable running from the knob down inside the engine compartment, I see it's connected to a piece of metal that pivots to lock something in place.

Could the other T2290 owner (lilbota) try theirs and tell me if they have any issues with theirs? This seems like it might be a design issue. Any suggestions on how to fix this are appreciated. My Kubota dealer should be able to fix it under warranty, but I can't tie it up with them for a couple weeks (durning prime mowing season).

I pick up my mower (t2290 w/ 48” deck) tomorrow so I will look over that parking brake issue you have mentioned. Just excited to get my mower and tell the lawn company thanks for their hard work! But like I said before, I will post a review after I have had it for at least a month.

Lilbota,

A little more info on how I BELIEVE the lock knob should be working. After depressing the brake fully to the floor, when you pull the lock knob, you should be able to feel the knob click. Then when you let your foot off the brake pedal, it should stay depressed. My problem is I can't get the knob to always get into that "clicked" state. I don't know if the metal pivoting piece at the end of the cable got bent, distorted, whatever, but that's my suspicion of what might have happened.

Thanks for the reply, let me know how yours is working!

If anybody else out there has any ideas or input, I'd appreciate hearing from ya!

Just picked my mower up and my parking brake knob does click when locked into place. It worked perfectly at the dealership and after when I parked it after bringing it to the house. On a side note, my seat did come damaged. They will be giving me a free one, so I will have 2 seats! Will probably keep the damaged one on till it gets bad and switch over after a few years hopefully!

Lilbota,

Glad yours is working for you. At least I know what it's supposed to do. I like the deal getting a replacement seat, now you have a backup! Let me know of any other experiences you have with your T2290.

If anybody else out there has a suggestion of how I can correct this (aside from tying it up at the dealer), I'd like to hear from ya!

Just wanted to let you know that after messing around with the mower I realized that the knob for the parking brake doesn’t click when the break is fully pushed down. Maybe your break pedal isn’t properly adjusted?

Lilbota - interesting....... another thing I notice when pushing the brake pedal (not even messing around with the lock knob); occasionally when depressing the pedal, at the furthest extent of the pedal travel, sometimes I get a little click that I hear, and actually feel in my left foot. Almost like a spring letting go.

The mystery continues...

And mystery continues! Could be a spring, I’m no mechanic though. However, if you go to Kubota’s website they have a break down of every equipment they sell. You should be able to see how the brake pedal is connected.

Lilbota- if you can find where they show the parts breakdown, on their website, can you share a link to it? I've done a lot of searching for it, but I can't find it. Appreciate it!

ya here it is. its under the parts section, then under illustrated parts, then search for "T". http://kpadweb.kubota.co.jp/kpad2/KTC/

Mod edit: You can not link to a secure page, you have to start at the beginning and walk through all the steps.
https://apps.kubotausa.com/illustrated-parts/
Click on view illustrated parts
Next page agree to legal
Next page input model
Then pick exact model and click open
Then go to parts page needed.

Lilbota and North Idaho Wolfman - thanks for the links. I had to backtrack and start from the beginning, but I got there, found the schematics for the brake. From what I can make out from looking at it, the top hook on the arm (part 190) might latch onto the slot in part B (?). I have to find a way to get a better view from under the mower to see if that looks correct.

the best way might be to get some ride on ramps, just make sure the back tires are chalked and ramps are secured! doesn't sound like a major issue right now, but not having brakes due to malfunction or improper installation could be. i would say it is worth investigating!

Lilbota - another question for ya about the new suspension seat on the T2290. Nowhere do they really explain how to adjust the seat, to either get more or less support. My first ride in my bumpy front yard was rough on my back, so I turned the dial on the seat towards the "-" position, which seemed to give me a less bumpy ride. Have you played with this at all, and what's your understanding about how it's supposed to work? My dealer kinda just shrugged his shoulders when I asked him, said because it was a new model, didn't know anything about it.

I've been hobbled up with a herniated disk flare up to look at the brake issue yet. Think my cut yesterday didn't help my back; sitting around today in pain, on a massage/heat pad.......
