Brother, I feel your pain. Last eye appt was 2 years ago. Put it off last year since the doc warned me I was borderline needing bifocals  Got an appointment Monday with the eye docs. Gotta feeling Im gonna be re-learning some basic tasks in a week or two with some new specs

I got used to bifocals almost immediately. Don't even think about it any more.

Only problem I had was driving. Looking down the road and then glancing down at the gauges was a bit disconcerting for a couple of days.

Just got new reading glasses, enhanced readers. Wore them for three days and went back to my old beat up ones. I move my eyes to read, the reader part was two small pinpoints, making reading inpossible for me. And headaches. Man, they were bad. Throw in a little vertigo.
Shouda asked what happens if they dont work. Well, got regular readers and was told there would be no extra charge...i feel i should have got some money back,as they were way more money. Last dollar they get from me.

Daren, if you spend a lot of time looking at things like equipment from underneath, ask about a second pair of glasses that have the upper part of the lens in focus at 2 to 4 feet, and the bifocal at reading distance. Saves on the neck muscles. They also make good computer glasses.

I got my eye doctor to make a pair of glasses for me that I can use for reading and watching TV. The prescription is a little weaker than my normal one and no correction for astigmatism. I cannot use them for long distances but they work great around the house. They also give my eyes a rest from my normal prescription.

Thanks for the advice :D Gonna mention that to my wife as well. She spends all day at work on the computer :) I'll have to see what my insurance will cover. For work I have to wear safety glasses, which my insurance covers. Most of the time I'm looking down. Occasionally under a piece of equipment if I'm wiring, I am looking up. On those occasions, the neck is hurting anyway  I am noticing that to focus on something close, I'm having to shut one eye :eek:

Hell glasses are the least of my problems I buy the cheap reading glasses at the parts store. When I go to the Chiro. his first words are ankle, hip or shoulder my words are all three and lately it's weekly. Have any of you people in OTT land had stem cell treatments for hips? Thanks Barry

I tossed out a brand new jar of grape jelly 2 weeks ago cause I couldn't see the expiration date. Wife was pissed and told me I should have used my phone to take a picture and zoomed in lol. I could not argue with that logic. Cell phones, the new magnifying glass.

Damn frustrating getting old lol. I can see perfect at distances, yet for reading I need cheater glasses. I buy the cheapo Costco ones at $20 (cad) for 3 pairs. I do that because I end up sitting on them/dropping them etc.

Looks like I might have to bump up from 1.5x to 2x soon too. Ugh. [emoji41]

Thanks for the tip sheepfarmer...they gave me trifocals the last couple times which doesn't make much sense because I take my glasses off to read and put on a normal lens to drive especially the motorcycle. Now sitting at the computer or welding is when I need a lens that's good for 2 to 4 feet, just so happens I'm due for new glasses the first of January.

My new glasses came in today. First time in bifocals :eek: Transition wasn't too bad. Only issue so far seems to be doorways  Specifically transitions from inside to outside. Found myself trying to step down an imaginary step leaving the eye clinic  There wasn't a step!!!!

Driving is fine. Only issue is finding the sweet spot in the glasses for the tow mirrors on the Sierra. Mainly going from the regular mirror to the lower fish eye mirror for blind spots. Can't seem to get the right spot on the lenses to clear up the image through the fish eyes

Did my yearly check up and since we got a new benefit that pays for most of a pair of glasses I decided to upgrade, doc went a bit stronger. Right away I told the tech something was not right but she said to wear them for 2 weeks. Not a good 2 weeks so I go back in and the doc says that he wondered if it would work, WTH!!! Got different lenses and they are great, still don't understand what happened but now distance and reading are clear.

Sound like a mechanic I took a car to years ago. Was an automatic transmission and was leaking fluid at 11,000 miles. Dealer had it for several days. I picked it up and went on an 8 mile jaunt to an auto parts store. When I came out there was a "purple puddle" about ft. in dia.

When I called the dealership to let them know, their response was, "I thought it might do that".

Maybe standard operating procedure is to just half ass things and hope it works!

In Bill's World, that statement would be grounds for a hard punch in the nose or a swift kick in the nuts, with the moron who stated it having no recourse what-so-ever. Sigh.
