So thinking little out of the box. Considering movable side mirrors on my truck I can move from inside truck. Large movements. Basically sideways Submarine periscope. Extend a foot and a half and/or retract it right next to cab. Not a little truck; poor mans Expedition camper based on Military truck, and can get in tight quarters off road so being able to retract mirror in tight to cab is just as important as moving it out far to better see trailer or?? beside and behind me.
here is my crazy idea. Mount a thru the cab tube on each side of truck in a space I can reach. Insert a tube thru this solid mounted to cab tube (telescoping). Mount a few brackets inside for it to slide inside/along for stability. Rubber in mounts for anti vibration. Put mirror outside on the sliding tube. Now I can slide mirror in and out... even rotate up and down if I want. Can't exactly reach the passenger mirror.. being it is nearly 7 feet a way with a 2.5' tall hump between me and passenger side so a long tube that reaches across cab would be required here. For sure this idea greatly helps passenger side changes.
But how to make it not leak in rain etc.? Any ideas on how to water tight this tube in a tube arrangement?
